"Design is a non-linear process and creative solutions don’t always strike like lightning. Sometimes things need time to marinate and several rounds of revision. I think the reason why some technological products are better and more aesthetically pleasing than others lies not in the technologies themselves, nor in the financial aspect of developing them (well, let's say, not in most cases). I believe it all lies in the stubbornness of certain individuals in the team. Those who will write task after task, tweak and remake, until it's finally perfect. Indeed, the difference is that some teams get to be really stubborn about making things as good as they can be. Any other factors are often just convenient excuses hiding behind the guise of limitations. #smotrow #design #designer #productdesign #interface #interactiondesign #thinking #quotes #designquote

REWIEW ON “STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST BY AUSTIN KLEON” Last week, I joined #sheread4design challenge headed by STAD (She Thinks and Design) and it has been a fun ride. Here is a breakdown of some key insights from the first 5 chapters and see how they relate to me as a product designer. Chapter 1 offers a profound perspective on creativity. It reminds us that art is a remix of existing ideas, and it's okay to borrow and refine, with discernment. The message: Build your inspiration repository with patience and thorough research. For me, as a product designer, this chapter underlines the significance of evolving from imitation to refinement while respecting existing knowledge. Chapter 2 encourages us not to wait for the perfect moment to unleash our creativity. It's about trying everything, even if you feel like a copycat. The lesson: You don't need to be perfect; act as if it is until you achieve your desired state. As a designer, I see this as the journey from imitation to emulation, ultimately creating something uniquely mine. In Chapter 3, the creative process is likened to being a mixologist. It's about fusing influences to craft your unique narrative. As a designer, this resonates with me as we blend various design philosophies into distinct product designs that reflect our individuality. Chapter 4 emphasizes aligning creativity with your environment, breaking free from digital screens. It's about getting hands-on, capturing ideas in physical books. As designers, it encourages us to explore richer, more imaginative solutions. Chapter 5 highlights embracing diverse experiences and not feeling tied to one path. For me, as a product designer, it's about enjoying the design process, exploring new concepts, and creating well-rounded, unique products. In a world of constant innovation, this book's insights are golden. We will be diving into the second part of the book this week. Let's keep the creative fire burning! 🔥 #StealLikeAnArtist #Creativity #ProductDesign #Innovation #Inspiration

A new book, The Path to Senior Product Designer by Artiom Dashinsky, has arrived last week. I am interested to read about how growth looks in large companies, what methods there are, and in general, to study more who is a senior designer.

There should be an objective behind every sketch. That's why before starting a sketch I ask myself, "What am I trying to accomplish?" Am I trying to solve a problem? Communicate a solution? Create excitement? Elicit feedback? Get buy-in? The objective dictates what I sketch and how I sketch it. The views, the fidelity, the level of detail, the composition, and the focus are all determined by what I am trying to accomplish. Define your objective from the start and you'll get to a more effective sketch quicker. - Knack is the industrial design studio that packs pipelines with value-creating innovations.
