I’ve a team of 24 members and they are my best hires. I was able to hire them because they were the only ones who answered this one question appropriately - "What do you think are the 3 most important criteria for hiring someone for this position?" If you’re hiring for any role this question can provide valuable insight into a candidate's thought process and priorities. Their response can reveal whether they truly grasp the job's responsibilities and the skills needed to succeed. For example, you're hiring for a customer service role. Green flag: If the candidate emphasises qualities like excellent communication skills, patience, and a service-oriented mindset. Red flag: If the candidate focuses solely on technical abilities when the role demands significant interpersonal skills. This question can help you understand a candidate's values, priorities, and decision-making process. Do they value hard skills over soft skills, or vice versa? Do they consider cultural fit important? Their reasoning can explain their potential contributions and how well they might integrate into the team. This will help you hire the right person.
