With the U.K. AI safety summit starting today much of the focus is shifting to speculative dangers of AI. But bias & inequities of existing AI systems here today have not gone away. Over a longer term these known harms could be greater than speculated cutting edge AI fears.

The discrete unit of useful cognition in AI is not an LLM; it is an agent designed for a specific task within a specific workflow. Once you understand this, the disaggregation and subsequent aggregation of AI-delivered services becomes obvious.

In the race for digitalization and recent advancements in AI, it's crucial to remember the importance of maintaining process quality. This quality can only be achieved through the human brain, which controls and manipulates AI as needed. If we lose sight of process quality, the desired results can never be achieved, no matter how advanced our automation becomes.

Interesting proposal on global AI regulation by Sangchul Park at Seoul National University. Mr. Park divides current regulatory schemes into "horizontal" and "context-specific." Although he clearly shows a preference for context-specific schemes, the proposal he makes is for a hybrid framework he calls the "3C framework" (contextuality, coherency, commensurability). Contextuality focuses on AI categorization (e.g., autonomous, discriminative, generative) Coherency establishes regulatory goals and objectives for the given category. Commensurability establishes a set of measures against which conformance to the regulatory objectives can be assessed.
