The battle to balance competing factors emphasizes data quality, the foundation of reliable research. Quality is subjective and tied to study goals, where setting acceptable thresholds is key for reliability and validity. To mitigate errors and biases, the focus needs to be on several key areas, such as: - Sampling Errors: Ensure a representative sample through size, method, and diversity for generalizable results. - Questionnaire Design: Craft clear, unbiased questions to avoid misinterpretation and skewed results. - Data Gathering Methods: Use consistent, unbiased collection methods to minimize errors. Striving for higher data quality involves setting rigorous standards and addressing these areas independently. Refinement and vigilance are essential for the integrity of our findings. A few weeks ago we launched a survey on Expert Knowledge Sharing and wanted to share results, thoughts, and reflections. At AggKnowledge, we're on a mission to improve the fractured relationship between individuals and knowledge communities. With AggKnowledge, individuals can commercialize their expertise by leveraging a unified platform with connectivity across expert networks, survey panels, market research firms, and more. Knowledge networks have access to a previously inaccessible data enrichment ecosystem, improving their outreach accuracy and operational efficiency. It would be ironic if we launched something in this area without doing our own expert-based research. Here is the first takeaway… 79% of experts surveyed are active on multiple expert networks. Our thoughts: network uniqueness is something that has been discussed for years, especially in the early days of “custom recruiting.” Throughout our time in the industry, it was widely accepted that overlap was 40%, then more recently, 60%. We also observe that experts who participate in multiple calls per year have a higher likelihood of being part of multiple networks. But contrary to some people’s initial reaction to this stat, this isn’t a problem for networks, nor their end clients. If anything, it means experts are readily available to share their knowledge, and in many cases they’ve already gone through compliance training and initial setup. Most important now is that networks can get to those experts as quick as possible, properly vet them for the specific project, and get the correct profiles and screening information over to their clients, faster than the competition. From the expert side, upon joining multiple networks, they are creating numerous static profiles (eventually these become stale). Each must be maintained and the onus is oftentimes on the individual expert, especially when they’re attempting to answer an urgent request, typically involving repetitive qualifying questions.
