Why work for a small agency over a large one? This is a question I’m constantly asking when hiring at Nusa Films, how do we attract top tier talent who might be considering a role at a more established, bigger agency? There's a number of factors but I believe this is by far the most important: ⚙️ Being a big cog in a small machine We have a unique opportunity for creatives to work hands-on with some amazing brands like Ford, Casio & Nandos All whilst being able to fully own their roles and know that they've played an integral part in delivering an amazing piece of content And most importantly you have real automony over your role, with the ability to innovate certain areas of our work and make a real difference in the business (also if you're wondering, yes that is a small jelly bean on our ceiling) #video #videoproduction #film #filmproduction #creativeagency #socialmedia #socialcontent #contentmarketing

Producer Powerhouse: The Hierarchy Behind The Scenes‼️ By Syed Abu Turab ➖️➖️➖️ The world of media and film production is a whirlwind of creativity, collaboration, and… sometimes, confusion. Titles like "producer" can be an umbrella term, encompassing a variety of roles with distinct responsibilities. Let's break down the producer hierarchy and shed light on what truly happens on set. ▪️Executive Producer: The Money Mover (and More) Think of the Executive Producer (EP) as the project's financial backbone. They secure funding, oversee the big-picture vision, and liaise with distributors. EPs may delegate tasks but ultimately hold the purse strings and ensure the project's viability. ▪️Line Producer: The On-Set Orchestrator The Line Producer is the logistical maestro. They manage the day-to-day operations, budget, and shooting schedule. They directly oversee hiring crew members, securing locations, and ensuring a smooth filming process. ▪️Showrunner/ Supervising Producer: The Creative Captain (in television) In television, the Showrunner/Supervising Producer reigns supreme over the creative direction. They develop the show's concept, write scripts, oversee the writing team, and manage the overall creative vision throughout the season(s). ▪️Producer: The Glue That Holds It All Together The Producer, reporting to the Line Producer or Showrunner, handles a variety of tasks. They manage paperwork, supervise specific departments, and bridge communication between various crew members. Producers ensure everything runs efficiently and problems are addressed swiftly. ▪️Who Reports to Whom? A Hierarchy in Action Imagine this: The EP entrusts the Line Producer with the budget. The Showrunner guides the creative direction, and Producers report to either the Line Producer or Showrunner depending on the project structure. ▪️Beyond the Title: What Producers Actually Do So, what does a producer actually do on set? Their tasks can vary, but they might be: 1️⃣ Scouting locations 2️⃣ Creating call sheets (daily production schedules) 3️⃣ Managing crew logistics (travel, meals) 4️⃣ Handling talent relations 5️⃣ Problem-solving unexpected issues ▪️Understanding the Roles Breeds Success Clear communication and respect for each producer's role are paramount in media/film production. By recognizing these distinctions, aspiring professionals can navigate their careers effectively, and production companies can optimize workflows for a successful final product. ⚠️ Feel free to tag me with #asksyedabuturab or share your thoughts in the comments. Let's keep the conversation going and empower each other in the media landscape. "Why is video production so expensive? My cousin has a DSLR and said he could shoot this for $150." I LOVE getting this question, because it gives me a chance to demonstrate the VALUE that qualified video producers can add to a project. When you hire a professional, you: 1. Get someone who's not just a button pusher, but a partner 2. Use equipment that isn't going to fail on you 3. Get a whole team dedicated to specific functions 4. Get people who know how to interact with executives, celebrities, and other VIPs 5. Are given a clear vision of the process from start to finish 6. Get someone who knows how to roll with the punches 7. Support someone in their career, not their pastime With video playing such a vital role in every campaign, do yourself a favor: make the investment. You'll end up looking like a rockstar. 📸 Cody Madsen

I could not have said this any better. Kudos to Nick Bacon for listing out the reasons WHY and the VALUE professionals bring to the table. Yes, you can do it for less, but do you really want to? Here are the reasons to work with a pro ⬇ #AV #EventDesign #ProfessionalSolutions

My First Unofficial SDR Gig (14 yr): How did my first rejection lead me to produce a movie with an NYFA graduate, adult redhead cast 🍊, with no expenses? When I was 14, I wanted to act in an international film competition (48 hours); no one wanted a kid on their team, and my application just got ignored. So I decided to build my own production. * Got through the application's database and CALLED all the applicants. And some of them referred me to others. * Shrunk my scope to only Redheads cast, which actually helped engage more actors. * Wasn’t afraid to reach out and demand. The team that created our soundtrack shared - “we were so surprised when you came to sign us on the papers in person, we were sure you were way older than us” (they were 20). * Prioritised team members with additional value like access to film equipment, etc. I ended up building a production that included an NYFA graduate director, a full production team from the best institutions, and Redheads acting school alumni. The movie wasn’t great, but I won skills and courage that I still definitely use today. #ProspectingAsAWayOfLife

My cherished colleague, Kristin Paiva , shares what she means when she referred to her approach to casting as “🌟Creative Casting🌟” Voiceover peops, I hope you revel in each and every word. It’s in her post below ⬇️ but here are her words with my mind-blow reactions interspersed as exclamation ❗️ points: “‘Creative Casting’ is not about handing roles to major players;…” [❗️you actually have a chance folks! Keep the faith!] “…it's about recognizing the right fit, regardless of one's position in the industry...” [❗️yes, that means you! You who might be someone who’s been thinking they might not have enough credits to be a contender.] “…As a Casting Director, I strive for uniqueness and distinction in every role, not just the easy or expected choices...” [❗️there are casting directors out there prepared to take risks. Are you prepared to give them the peace of mind to take a risk on you by providing performance excellence?! Are you prepared to give uniqueness and distinction in your auditions?] “…My commitment to the creators, the audience, and the talented individuals involved is to make each world I contribute to truly distinct and memorable. I am committed to providing equal opportunities to everyone who auditions…” [❗️anyone else beaming and grinning ear to ear?!] “…ensuring that every role is earned based on merit, not just industry status.” [❗️thank you Kristin!] - - - #voiceover #voiceoverlife #thickskincreations from the #virtualdeskandnotebookoftomantonellis #tomantonellis #voiceartsawardsnominee #choicevoicesolution | #kristinpaiva #paivaproductions #casting ; Kristin’s hashtags: 🌟 #CastingDirector #AnimationCasting #CreativeChoices #StandOutProjects Tom Antonellis #voiceoverartist , #voicematch specialist , #dialectcoach , #branding & messaging consultant for VO talent | #podcast co-host of #backthroughthebasement | Rep - #thelibraryagency
