⏩ Founder & CEO of Decasonic | web3 venture & digital assets fund 💡 investor, operator & board member | co-building the next generation internet
All roads lead to #transmedia, at the crossroads of Interactive Entertainment, IP, and Fan Ownership. More from my colleague Danny as we are actively exploring collaborations with the top founders building at the intersection of web3 and transmedia. This is a large opportunity to bring beloved IP to the mainstream, along experiences that engage fun and #community across multiple formats and devices. Transmedia storytelling goes beyond just expanding or copying stories across different media. It's about blending the story smoothly into various formats for that particular audience. Unlike when the same story is shown in multiple places (like turning a book into a TV series), true transmedia storytelling tries to reveal special parts of the tale optimizing for that format. This not only encourages fans to look for each piece of the story but also creates a deep attachment for the earned revelations of the intellectual property (IP) behind it. https://lnkd.in/eMHGyAHz

Creative Marketing Executive | Brand Narrative and Visual Storytelling | 360 Campaign Development | Content Strategy and Cross-Platform Promotion | Leading with Emotional Intelligence
I watch sports media every morning. It’s almost ritual at this point as discussing the latest happenings across soccer, football, basketball, baseball and golf is a passion of mine. However, when I turned on my TV this morning. The FAST channel I was watching last night was still playing. The scene was two men wrestling as one pinned down the other on a sawmill, his head inching closer and closer to a rotating blade. It was intense! I was intrigued. Out of nowhere, a spider monkey tackled the man off the other, saving his life. Another man walked into the scene and exclaimed “man, you really owe that monkey a banana!” And a fan was born. This odd, hilarious scene came from the show Scorpion. I’ve heard of it but had no intention of giving it a chance as it’s not my cup of tea on paper. However, you give me heroic spider monkeys and cheesy lines and I’m hooked. The only way I engage with this content is through a FAST service. Although FAST has been around for a while, I do believe is has the power to help consumers discover content in a similar way to social media, and of course like cable does too (but without the fees). Having helped launch and brand 4 FAST channels, I’m very familiar with the service, but can not help but find myself more and more interested in the future of the service. Has anyone else explored FAST? Any favorite channels? #entertainment #fastchannels #plutotv #media #streaming #tv #television #engagement #spidermonkeys

In my opinion, yesterday's Super Bowl ad game was rather weak. All the expected tropes made an appearance: Aliens, talking animals, and celebrities. So many celebrities they were nearly tripping over each other in some spots. It was a battle to bottom of being easily forgotten. Sure some will remember the gags or spectacles but will they remember the brands? For the most part, I doubt it. And that is an issue when you spend that kind of money. You have the world watching but will they care tomorrow? Will they chuckle to themselves and remember that ad when they see your product online or on the shelves? Or will they just move on? Only time will tell. Honorable mentions: “Michael CeraVie” (CeraVie) — This was my favorite use of celebrity because it was fun, relevant, and irreverent. I don’t know if it resonated with their core audience but it was certainly memorable and was an excellent integration with the brand name itself. “Do your lesson, no buts” (Duolingo) — Five wonderful seconds of pure weirdness. According to Duolingo’s own research, it resonated with their current customers and fans. But will it encourage new people to sign up? I think it will certainly make them look up the brand. Dishonorable mentions: “Dunkings” (Dunkin') — While intentionally cringeworthy, this was embarrassing for everyone involved—except for Matt Damon. His performance perfectly represented the viewers' discomfort, but even he couldn’t save this ad. “Couch Potato Farms” (Pluto TV) — Honestly, I don’t know much about Pluto TV or its service but I know I don’t want to big fat couch potato. But that is just me. #superbowl #superbored #advertising #adgame

Eliminating unneeded hardware, merging AV into the IT world, and simplifying traditional methods of delivering video, audio, and lighting to guests by becoming a client’s Director of Guest-Facing Technology.
If it were allowed and legal, they probably would lock the doors from the outside... But, casinos aren't allowed to do that. SO, they use every trick in the book to keep people inside and active. Everyone is aware of most of them. Marketing ploys, giveaways, tournaments, food specials, L-Bar marketing around your game, increased volume in music at strategic times, etc. And...they SHOULD do this, as it is a business. So, it pains me when I still see casinos where a monitor is either a digital sign OR a TV showing games. Make every single TV both. Using an IPTV platform allows you to do this, while eliminating most player and rack hardware. When someone hits a jackpot, EVERYONE needs to be aware that someone else is winning, so other people FEEL the winning environment...and keep playing. Increased messaging, increased spending, increased ROI. In the movie Rounders, Mike McDermott probably summarizes it best. "It's immoral to let a sucker keep his money." Correct, Mike.
This is a digital sign. That is a TV. This can show marketing content. That shows football games. Don’t get into this situation. Expand the audience. Expanding the audience extends reach of the messaging, which then keeps guests more informed, which then keeps the guests coming back. This is especially true with jackpot celebrations. We are presently working with a client on triggering celebrations directly from the gaming system. Sure, this capability has been around for years and years. But, getting that celebration to EVERY television still is not as mainstream as it should be because only some TV’s can receive the content. By getting that celebration to every screen in the channel ring, and triggering audio and lighting in the same preset/trigger, you are creating an overwhelmingly winning atmosphere for every person sitting at those slots. They feel that energy, and will play longer and spend more. And that is what our clients want. Every TV should have an alternate identity as a digital sign, without a black box behind any of them. Every TV should have fun when someone hits a jackpot. Every TV should be enlisted by a casino to increase player loyalty. #casino #gaming #gamingindustry #iptv #audiovisual #informationtechnology #casinomarketing #arenas #stadiums #airports #universities #ledwall #digitalsignage #digitaltransformation #sportsbar #tribalgaming #leddisplay #media #led #startups #startupbusiness #videowalls #lg
