What is the standard American diet or standard Western diet? The standard American diet, also known as the standard Western diet, is a pattern of eating high amounts of meat, dairy, eggs, fried foods, refined grains, and refined sugar. Also with a very low intake of vegetables, fruits, wholegrains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. The main thought behind this diet is that meat is natural, normal, and healthy. We grew up believing that we needed meat to be healthy. At least I did, what about you? Even if you looked at it from a health perspective, these foods are killing us! A diet full of animal products and highly processed food is contributing to so many health problems for humans. Not only are these products bad for us health-wise, they're also causing unnecessary suffering and cruelty to the animals! I wasn't always vegan as many of you know, I grew up on a dairy farm in Canada and therefore I know first-hand just how much people are burying their heads in the sand and not considering the impact of their purchases! There is a widespread misperception that food that has been frozen loses a lot of its nutrients. When it comes to preserving the nutritional worth of food, many people think that fresh is always preferable. - However, many vitamins and minerals—like vitamin C and A—stay reasonably stable during the freezing process. Food shelf life is increased, meal preparation is made easier, and nutrients are made available through freezing. - The idea that food loses nutrients when it is frozen is mostly false. Freezing has no effect on most foods’ nutritional value, however, it can change the texture of some meals. -By knowing the science underlying freezing and implementing appropriate storage procedures, we may securely add frozen foods to our diets without compromising their nutritious value.
