The World Bank Enterprise Survey monitors the monetary damages of climate disasters on businesses worldwide. The United States is getting harsher and harsher weather patterns making it the norm that every year businesses will have to account for climate damages in their bottom line. For large corporations, it may be an insignificant amount that fits into the rest of their operational costs but for a small business it can mean the end of their operations due to the overwhelming cost of rebuilding after a disaster. Not only that but Small and Medium sized businesses (SME's) are operating in a market with high interest rates and difficult loan solutions making the possibility of rebuilding based on credit and investment harder in the current economy. The World Bank Enterprise Surveys (WBES) for the United States in 2024 is actively collecting the data directly from businesses affected to give important insights into how the changing climate burdens the United States Private Sector. The Importance of Mobile Broadband Communication in Disaster Situations In December 2021, Western Kentucky was hit by a series of the deadliest and most devastating tornadoes ever recorded in the state's history. The extent of the disaster was only matched by the heroic response from the state and federal governments, who promptly approved an emergency disaster declaration to mobilize resources for quick response and recovery.
