Outreach Officer for the World Bank | WBES USA 2024 | Facilitating Business Insights for Policy Impact
The World Bank Enterprise Survey monitors the monetary damages of climate disasters on businesses worldwide. The United States is getting harsher and harsher weather patterns making it the norm that every year businesses will have to account for climate damages in their bottom line. For large corporations, it may be an insignificant amount that fits into the rest of their operational costs but for a small business it can mean the end of their operations due to the overwhelming cost of rebuilding after a disaster. Not only that but Small and Medium sized businesses (SME's) are operating in a market with high interest rates and difficult loan solutions making the possibility of rebuilding based on credit and investment harder in the current economy. The World Bank Enterprise Surveys (WBES) for the United States in 2024 is actively collecting the data directly from businesses affected to give important insights into how the changing climate burdens the United States Private Sector. Hurricanes in Florida can wreak havoc on homes and businesses, causing extensive damage and posing significant risks. That's why it's crucial to be prepared before disaster strikes. Take proactive steps like stocking up on supplies, creating evacuation plans, and knowing emergency routes Hurricanes bring high winds, torrential downpours, and flooding that can tear roofs off buildings, send debris flying, and submerge streets and yards. The aftermath can be daunting, but being prepared can mitigate risks and save you time, money, and stress. Stay safe, stay prepared, and remember – FP Property Restoration is here for you when you need us. #HurricanePreparedness #FPPRestoration

Communications and PR Manager at ShelterBox. Formerly at NSPCC, RNLI, Public Service Broadcasting Trust, and ITV.
At ShelterBox, we don't think there's anything natural about millions of people losing their homes to disaster every year. Too often people don't have time to recover from one disaster before the next crisis hits. That's why we're rethinking disasters and redefining our disaster relief. Join us in breaking the cycle. You can help by: - Signing up to our online pledge below. - Sharing our social posts with five friends. - Finding out more via our website. - Starting conversations when you hear people describe disasters as natural.
✍️ Sign now and join us in rethinking disasters. Nobody should lose their home because people in power fail to act. Yet every year, millions of people are made homeless because leaders don’t invest in preparation, recovery, and rebuilding. This pushes communities into a vicious cycle of trying to recover before the next disaster strikes. Visit our website to add your name and help break the cycle https://lnkd.in/e3HN-iZc

Grassroots organizations and community mutual aid groups are the first to mobilize when disaster strikes—drawing on relationships, local knowledge, and that combination of grit and care that makes us Vermonters. In a time of ever-unfolding disaster, we recognize the need to balance short term needs and long term transformation. Calling Vermonters to rally this Thursday, Aug. 1 at the Statehouse at 9:30 am for the People’s Demands for a Just Flood Recovery. As informed by our identities, lived experiences, and expertise, we demand that the State of Vermont deliver on key pillars of a just recovery—recovery that goes beyond repairing flood damage to address underlying inequity. Investing in this work will not only make it possible to rebuild from now-recurring flooding, but will set our communities up for a safe, thriving future as the climate crisis continues to unfold. As a top Realtor in Florida, I understand the devastating impact that natural disasters can have on our communities. It's heartening to see President Joe Biden visiting rural North Florida to pledge support for the areas affected by Hurricane Idalia. His commitment to helping the state for as long as it takes is commendable. ✅ A strong message of support from the President sends a powerful signal to those in need. ✅ The addition of six counties to the federal disaster declaration ensures that more resources will be available for recovery efforts. ✅ It's encouraging to see bipartisan cooperation with U.S. Sen. Rick Scott joining the President in discussing recovery efforts. However, it is notable that Governor Ron DeSantis did not participate in the visit. While President Biden expressed understanding for his absence, it is essential for our leaders to come together during times of crisis. Collaboration and unity are key to ensuring a swift and effective recovery. 🤝 Let's remember that recovery efforts should be prioritized above political ambitions. #FloridaStrong #HurricaneIdaliaRecovery #LeadershipInCrisis #UnityInAction #CommunitySupport #BipartisanCollaboration
