You want me to eat what? One of my fondest childhood memories is this little shop that sold bierocks. I found it so random that a Bierock stand and ski shop was in my Black neighborhood. At the time I had no idea what skiing was, and I definitely had not a clue about galuskies or Bierocks. Nor was I willing to try them. Fast forward 10 years and I attended college at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Ks. And coincidentally Volga Germans had settled in Hays, Ks. And what did I find myself eating, Bierocks and galuskies. LOL! 10 years later, I found myself in Breckenridge, Colorado on a ski slope. D!versity is SO important in many ways. We must move the conversation beyond saviorism. Beyond, me and my privileges saving others. Beyond I must be an ally because people need my help. We need to get to a place where we co-exist. Where differences are comforting. These white businesses did not have a problem being in my predominately Black neighborhood. I never had a problem with them. In fact, I felt comfortable browsing around the ski shop and ordering a drink from the Bierock stand. I felt comfortable that when it came time for me to try new things, I was willing to. I was comfortable with these things that weren’t culturally relevant to me, because they were familiar to me. And in an odd way, they were a part of my culture. Because white shops were comfortable being in community with Black folks. You know… We need Black shops in predominantly white neighborhoods. We need mosques next to the Lutheran church. We need the artist next to the scientist. We need to community. Occasionally when I visit home, I make sure to visit the community that shaped me. I drive by Central avenue and past a few of my fondest memories. The Slope Ski shop that sits on the north side of the street. And the Bierock stand that sits on the south side. What’s a fond memory for you related to difference? #colou_consulting #humanflourishing #everydaypractices #mentalhealthandwellbeing #colouconsulting

David Rowe and Matthew Deacon , I believe that you will do great things with this one. Dutch Bros Coffee , this is the first of many. Let’s celebrate them together. Russ Orsi , we shared many a meal together discussing this one. #construction #coffee #restaurants #environment #teambuilding #careeradvancement #change #experience #business #future #mindfulness #design #artificialintelligence #customerexperience #ai #consultants #leadership #leader #leadershipfirst #europeanleadership #management #qsr # #development #changemanagement #futureofwork #machinelearning #technology #empathy #culture #team #innovation #collaboration #strategy #digital #peoplefirst #motivation #transformation #environment # #restaurantdesign #work #career #ecornell #cornelluniversity #managementdevelopment # #opportunity #customercommunication #dubai #executivesandmanagement #successfulmindset
Saturday Night Update from Dutch Bros Coffee, and this one is freaking long-awaited and awesome. Our "Party in the Parking Lot" expansion has come to Concord, CA. Located at 4672 Clayton Rd., Concord, CA, this beauty is the fifth location for operator David Rowe and his team of slayers. Norcal has been our second home for a long time, and we keep inching closer to the Bay Area. We are so honored to grow in this community. Creating jobs and a compelling future in the communities that support us and allow us to make a difference is at the heart of what we do daily. Matthew Deacon and Lance Risser will support this mission for us here. Story time- Did you ever have one of those projects that you really wanted, and it just found a way to break your heart over and over again? That was our project here in Concord. At one point in the not-so-distant past, this project was listed as DOA. Kelli Sparkman and I had moved on. My finance team had a "spirited" conversation with me about this one. Tripp Androy and Jason McCarty made a strong argument, and we renewed our focus. 6 months later, this store is ready to open. One of these days, over a great cup of coffee, I'll share the entire story. Gurinder Kehr joined us specifically to work alongside Russ Orsi and Wally Tirheimer and drive this project home. We liked him so much that we have kept him as a permanent member of the team. Mark Baker had fun with the design here. There were too many obstacles here, but patience really did pay off, and the finished result speaks for itself. Harry Raft, as much as I want to say let's never do this again, I am so happy with our team and the result, I'm down for another fight. If you have never been to a Dutch Bros Coffee, go now!! It does not matter what you order; everything is three kinds of awesome and will change your life, but I suggest you try the GOLD MEDAL REBEL™ Strawberry blended energy drink w/ Soft Top™ and red, white, and blue star sprinks. Thank you to Leigh Gower, Victoria Tullett , Christine B., Tana Davila, Josh Guenser and Sumi Ghosh for leading the brand and allowing us to open these #dutchlove distribution centers each week. Shout out to Charles Swindler, Lance Risser, Levi Ayriss, and the thankless team of Mobsters who create this magic daily. May Han, Erin Belisle, Lauren Schwab, Jenny James, and Marissa Mecca, stay cool; we owe you one for the success of this project. #coffee #creatingjobs #compellingfuture #community #rebel #dutchbros #dutchlove #Concord #icsc #retaillive

Absolutely LOVE how 2024 is turning into the year of women’s sports. Here are just a few highlights thus far: 1. The Women’s March Madness Final Four game between Iowa and UConn had the largest audience of any basketball game in ESPN history. 2. The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has 1,100 sponsorship deals, creating a 25% increase from previous years. 3. At the end of 2023, the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) secured a $240 million domestic TV sponsorship deal with CBS, ESPN, Amazon, and Scipps. This deal is 40 times larger than previous agreement. 4. According to financial analysts at Deloitte, elite women’s sports will generate $1.28 billion in 2024 - this is an increase of 300% from three years ago. 5. Selfish plug - Dallas is now going to have a professional women’s soccer team called Dallas Trinity FC and they will be playing in the Cotton Bowl Stadium! (Season Membership Deposit secured) I’m very excited to continue to see the growth in women’s sports and to see how these elite athletes are impacting the next generation. #EqualPay #CaitlinClark #DallasTrinityFC #Gatorade #LPGA #NWSL
