WE NEVER LEARN FROM OUR FAILURES. Passion alone for Rugby 🏉 in PNG is never enough. Passion will never make up for lack of building the foundations or preparations and we end up being humiliated all the time. We have witnessed ugly scorelines year after year. When do we learn from the humiliating defeats and the sad fact is, WE never learn in this nation. We make the same mistakes year in, year out. Nation is humiliated year after year in front of massive crowds and international TV audiences. We never learn. We need to humble over selves and learn from the humiliating defeats. The defeats are a HUGE lesson for us in PNG. We need to ensure the foundations are built if PNGRL or any code is to compete at the elite or international level. Humility is the key word. So how is this manifested? One of my mentors taught me a great lesson in that being a leader is about knowing when to say NO. If leadership is all about saying YES then everyone is a chief and we don't need indians. So when our leaders say YES to "just turning up for the experience" and getting into to the Guiness book of records on the wrong side of the ledger, it is wrong and it helps no one. Get the foundation and structure right and build from there and understand it is not going to be pretty and it will take time. We will need to have patience and make hard decisions along the way but if we set the goal and are focused on achieving it, we will get there. We also need to understand that those who start the journey are likely not going to be there at the end, so the outcome is the deliverable not the individuals. My first post! I hope it makes sense! 🙂

Is it "coming home" yet or do England have more to prove? Although I still have a few more hours at work today my mind is already turning towards the England game tonight. This is the first tournament for years that I haven't heard anyone singing or the radio playing "It's Coming Home". In fact, I have hardly seen any England flags hanging from houses or mounted on cars. So why is this? Is it because we haven't looked convincing enough so far? Have Spain just looked too good? Have there been too many "years of hurt"? And what would it take for you to start believing Is beating the Netherlands enough? Do we need to beat them with a convincing win?
