This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. Itโs a poignant reminder of the importance of prioritising mental wellbeing in our personal and professional lives, not just this week, but always. Here are some top tips from Mind for staying mentally healthy at work which we try to live by at MOUSECODE: ๐ฅช Take your lunch break - Give yourself that much needed pause from work to eat, take a walk and a break from looking at your screen. ๐ถ Get some music going - If you are feeling stressed, some calm music can help relax or some upbeat music can distract you from any surrounding sounds and give you that bit of motivation you might be lacking. ๐ Start a to-do list - Keep a list of things you have completed and things you are yet to complete. You can keep track of where you are and it always feels good to tick a job off the list. ๐โ๏ธ Wind down - Use your commute home to fully wind down. Listen to some music, enjoy the journey, and relax. If working from home, find a way of separating your work space from your personal space so you can switch off at the end of the day. In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it's easy to get lost in our thoughts and the endless stream of activities. Today, I encourage you to pause and reflect on your mental well-being. Feeling overwhelmed is common - we all experience it. We are constantly tending to tasks, commitments, and distractions. Remember, your complete reality reflects your thoughts, beliefs, and habits. So, let's make it a habit to prioritize self-care. You and your mental health deserve it. ๐งโ๏ธ Here's a simple yet powerful practice you can incorporate into your daily routine: set a reminder once or twice a day to set aside just 30 seconds for slow, calm breaths. Inhale deeply, exhale slowly, and release any tension or stress. These brief moments of mindfulness can make a world of difference in how you navigate your day. ๐ This weekend I'm leading by example, heading to Algonquin Park for a camping trip with loved ones. A tech-free, distraction-free getaway that allows us to appreciate the present moment.
