โผ What stood out about Westwood and made you want to apply for this internship?
What caught my attention about Westwood was its reputation as a leading energy market intelligence and research firm within the energy sector. Their specialisation in the energy transition, particularly in the area of hydrogen, aligned perfectly with my career interests and academic background. The opportunity to work with experts in the field and contribute to the product development of an impactful and project in the realm of hydrogen motivated me to apply for this internship.
โผ What were your core roles and responsibilities?
My main responsibilities included gaining a comprehensive understanding of the hydrogen policy and regulatory landscape in Germany, in order to familiarise myself with established targets, funding schemes, and mechanisms. I collected and compiled data from hydrogen project proposals, creating a comprehensive database of hydrogen projects across Germany. I contributed to the development of a criteria assessment model designed to evaluate project viability. This model considered factors such as involved stakeholders, funding stages, and technology choices.
โผ What has been a standout moment of your internship or what did you enjoy working on the most?
One standout moment for me was the collaborative involvement in developing the criteria assessment model. Witnessing the tool in action, aiding the team in evaluating and making informed decisions about hydrogen projects, was incredibly rewarding. Additionally, I found great satisfaction in the process of compiling the database and extracting insights from it. Engaging with the database and the conceptual model provided me with the opportunity to apply my skills and make a meaningful contribution to the team's objectives.
โผ How has your time been overall while at Westwood and what will you take away from the experience?
My time at Westwood has been incredibly enriching and fulfilling. I've had the opportunity to collaborate with experts in the energy sector, deepen my understanding of hydrogen's role in the energy transition, and develop practical skills in data analysis, project evaluation, and report creation. Exposure to real-world projects and the dynamic energy landscape has proven invaluable. I will take away not only the technical skills I've acquired but also the ability to work effectively in a team and contribute meaningfully to projects with real-world implications. This internship has solidified my passion for the energy transition and provided me with a strong foundation for my future career endeavors.
