Capcom’s enduring fortune with “Resident Evil” and its remakes now warrants the return of its other zombie-horror franchise.

This is one of my first dream come true. Sharing about my experience with a game franchise that I have been following for more than 15 years. Although the Call of Duty franchise has always been a hit or miss, this had few goods in it. This is also me writing my first game review. Hope to see some feedback in the comments Read the full review down below. #MW3 #callofduty #gamereview

"Having a strong franchise guarantees the success of the game!" Nope, it doesn't. Only if the project is great and can succeed on its own, a strong IP can help it reach a wider audience and become more successful, like Monopoly GO. But no franchise, even the most famous one, will save a low-quality, boring game suffering from bad monetization. Marvel's Avengers, Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!, Gotham Knights, Star Wars Battlefront II (2017) - the list can go on indefinitely. Gamers play primarily for fun, not for popular logos and skins. First, make sure the game is fun, and only then worry about a fancy IP for it.

Fallout 4 is the top game in Europe right now. Perfect time to revisit my redux-review of the game from last year… Fallout 4 *might* be my favourite of the franchise. And here’s my prediction: people playing it now for the first time in years will be blown away by how well it has aged. Great to see Fallout back on people’s minds. It’s the best. https://lnkd.in/g2gpsXyX
Perspective | ‘Fallout 4’ has aged beautifully. You should play it again.

Can you be sad about people dying when you've never met them? But... I kind of feel like I knew Murayama-san a little. I think I get what he thought about big stuff like politics, war, being brave, friends, true loss, and sticking together despite the odds. I think I understand his love for telling stories and how much he liked video games. Part because of him and his team at Konami, and because of the first two Suikoden games (Suikoden II is one of my favorite games of all time), I also love stories and video games. And I think that through the games, I learned a thing or two about the themes he cared about. Games do have things to tell. It's naïve to think otherwise. But that's not their main purpose: games should make us have fun. Fun with friends. Fun with ourselves. Let our imaginations free. Let our feelings be free. Help us learn the important stuff by ourselves without someone having to spell it out for us. "As the creators, we've left plenty of room for your imagination to run wild, so make use of your imagination and enjoy yourself! That's the biggest thing I ask of players". Goodbye, Murayama-san. I never met you, but I am sure we'll get to truly feel your love for games in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

So I actually learnt something about my favourite games franchise today, which is the 'Resident Evil' series 😊. By using raw data, I was able to create a couple of Pivot Tables in MS Excel, which showed me that Resident Evil 5 had actually sold 12 million units, than the original RE4, which sold 10.5 million units. When Capcom decided to take a chance with Resident Evil 7, which was directed from a first person POV, it amazingly sold 9 million units. The least popular game in the franchise, which was Resident Evil: Dead Aim, only sold 1 million units. Positively, Resident Evil 4 received a great metacritic score with 96, closely followed by the Resident Evil Remake, which received a great score of 91, along with it's original game, receiving a score of 91 also. The least popular game in the franchise with the lowest score, which was Resident Evil: Survivor, with a metacritic score of 49. Bit of useless information, but if you'd like to see me cover other games and their info, please comment down below 😊.

So we have this situation where Stellar Blade, a Sony-published game, the very first made by its creating studio, reviews pretty well and is of proper AAA scale. But it only sold a couple millions, not meeting sales expectations and casting plans for a sequel in jeopardy. The age of content over abundance in which we live means that the methods of old a future-conscious platform holder such as Sony could have employed likely would fall flat. While before giveaways and massive price cuts might have helped jumpstart interest in the franchise and prop a sequel for success, nowadays, that would just make it one sale among many, one game among many, or one more game dropping in people’s libraries in exchange of no direct spend at that point in time. This is the landscape. Even giving away an actually good AAA game to propel a franchise might be an unnoticed move. And I think for so long as we, as an industry, and mostly the biggest actors in it, will think that’s ok, we’ll be struggling.
