Really interesting article about the use of #AI and the creative media industry and in line with the piece I wrote about #Hollywood and the use of #AI “There's #AI creating new jobs, getting a more authentic performance, and validating the work of the #creative team, and I just see this as a win. I don't see this as like the end of civilization or the end of media entertainment,” says Mike Seymour, Emmy nominated VFX specialist and #AI expert” Seymour says the technology is misunderstood, and that : “human mismanagement of AI — not the tools themselves — should be the target of concern” and here is why regulation is so important https://lnkd.in/eEp-qUm3

As indicated in yesterday's post, creativity is a skill least likely to be replaced by any form of #AI. At the same time, Hollywood jobs have been hit hard, as this The Hollywood Reporter article indicates. It's a reminder that we need to continue to demonstrate the value of human ingenuity, as the vast majority of the work being cut is more of the repetitious automatable efforts. Indeed, as with many forms of #analytics, this has the potential of freeing our minds and time up to be even more creative, should we choose to use the time that way... This. All this. I keep bringing this up - AI is ultimately going to replace a LOT of work. The unfortunate aspect of it and what needs to be seriously discussed is: - what roles will be first? - how quickly? This mentions kicking off entry roles first, however… how does that help anything unless you don’t care that at some point the mid-senior roles will ultimately retire or die off and you will not have anyone to take over those particular roles to continue the work? Obviously this implies mid-senior will also be eliminated. We all see the landscape changing with the strikes and layoffs, but to what extent? A majority of us are still rather early in our careers - only 10-15yrs into it - while our elders are entering the age to retire with their pensions. Us middle-agers who spent time and energy on degrees and learning our various fields are now seeing a crunch in jobs and were never given retirement options or work freelance, and the plan was meant to be paid to save and plan… which does not bode well given it’s all based on a gambling stock market (401k, etc). My biggest concern is the timeline and expectation of how we will manage a multi-industry age of unemployment in a very short amount of time (let’s say 10-20yrs). Are we expected to learn a new field in our 30s/40s/50s? And how do we know what fields are safe from AI takeovers? What fields are most reliable for employee-retirement offers? We’re facing working and re-learning an economy for the rest of our working-lives. Is anyone paying attention to this and does anyone care? I’m all for AI taking over it if means we can work less and not worry about paying bills or replacing tax dollars ourselves… that’s the other thing - does anyone understand AI will not be paying to holdup our federal and state governments? 🤷🏻♀️ #AItakeover #economicoutlook #ai #filmandtv #careerchange #careerdevelopment #economicforecast #filmindustry

The film industry is embracing artificial intelligence to transform movie production, distribution, and marketing. AI tools like ScriptBook analyze scripts, predict box office success, and aid in casting decisions. For example, 20th Century Fox used AI to analyze the script of Logan, enhancing plot development. AI also streamlines pre-production tasks like location scouting, with algorithms identifying suitable filming locations from vast footage. As AI continues to evolve, its impact on the movie industry is poised to grow, revolutionizing how movies are made and consumed.
