Somewhere between 5% and 15% of Americans consider themselves to be vegetarian. So why do some restaurants and event venues make zero effort to accommodate them? Offering good-quality vegetarian/vegan options is really easy and can cost less than meat or fish choices. Restaurants and planners, please put some veg selections on your menus--and preferably something a little more creative than a bowl of pasta. You can do this!

🍷 Are Heavy Meals Decreasing Together with Heavy/Strong Wines? 🥗In recent years, there's been a noticeable shift towards healthier lifestyles. People are moving away from fast food and high-sugar diets, opting instead for lighter, less processed meals. 🥂This change in eating habits is reflected in wine preferences, with consumers favoring lighter, simpler, and more refreshing wines over full-bodied reds. 📊 Data from the Wine Market Council and Nielsen show increased sales of rosé and low-alcohol wines, indicating a significant trend towards health-conscious drinking. Younger consumers, in particular, are driving this demand. 🌟For wineries, the question is whether to reduce the production of strong reds in favor of lighter, fruitier wines. While robust reds will always have their place, diversifying offerings to include more light and refreshing options can help meet evolving consumer preferences and succeed in today's market. Sources: • Wine Market Council "Rosé Wine Sales and Consumption Trends." • Nielsen "Low-Alcohol and Non-Alcoholic Wine Sales Data." • Wine Intelligence "The Impact of Younger Consumers on Wine Trends." #wine #wineindustry #vino

#Fermentation is a great tool to reduce #foodwaste both at home and in gastronomy. Vegetables, fruit, even bread and other food items can be turned into a delicious new product with the help of baceria, yeasts and molds. In thi photo, we turned surplus red onions into dark red, spicy fermented onion rings for sandwiches and salads. The onions are infused with the red colour of beetroot and the spiciness of both black pepper and chili pepper. It's like giving an ageing, boring ingredient a new life ✨ #FermentedFoods #ProbioticFoods #HomeFermentation #FermentationProcess #LactoFermentation #KombuchaBrewing #KimchiMaking #SourdoughBaking #Pickling101 #FermentingAtHome #FermentationCommunity #FermentationJourney #foodwaste #gastronomyproblems
