Remember that USPS Ten-Year Plan (well officially it’s called the Delivering for America Plan) we posted about earlier this week? Keep US Posted – a non-profit advocacy group of consumers, nonprofits, newspapers, greeting card publishers, magazines, catalogs and small businesses – is speaking out about it. “Louis DeJoy’s Delivering for America plan promised that the unprecedented postage increases which have taken place every six months since January 2022 would help USPS regain financial solvency, but they are clearly only triggering a dramatic loss in mail volume and fueling even more debt for the US Postal Service,” said Keep US Posted Executive Director and former Congressman Kevin Yoder (R-Kan.). “Twice-annual, above-inflation postage hikes are worsening the USPS’ financial woes and trapping it in quicksand, as even more mail is driven out of the system.” Keep US Posted supports alternatives to current and future efforts to slow the mail and increase postage rates. Band Leader, bass guitarist, vocalist, songwriter at Deep River, Asheville's Premier Country Vocal Group
FROM THE INTERSECTION: “On January 6th, 2021, 147 members of Congress voted against certifying the election and continued to push the Big Lie that led to the attack. In the wake of the insurrection, nearly two hundred corporations and industry groups said they would pause or altogether stop making political contributions to those members of Congress. But now, nearly three years later, most of these companies have abandoned that promise. In total, since January 6th, corporations have donated more than $90 million to these election deniers, who we call the Sedition Caucus. Two companies, Koch Industries and Boeing, have already donated well over $1 million to these election deniers. And one more company just hit this major milestone: Home Depot. Top 5 corporate donors to the Sedition Caucus: 1. Koch Industries: $1,511,000 2. Boeing: $1,258,500 3. Home Depot: $1,000,000 4. AT&T: $959,900 5. UPS: $923,500” —-CREW, 12/14/23

“ My Society” is about YOU and YOURS! It is worth visiting their first-class website which is like having an active supporter, campaigner and helper by your side -day in/day out. My Society say they "aim to empower people everywhere to become informed and active citizens, able to fully participate in shaping the decisions that impact their lives, contribute to flourishing communities, and hold power to account wherever it may lie." Running the public Freedom of Information service “WhatDoTheyKnow” is one of the key ways in which they seek to achieve those aims. Their other work also includes:- · Following your new MP: input your postcode and you'll get an email every time they speak or vote in Parliament · Whether you want to change the world, or just get a personal issue solved, your politicians are there to help.· Their directory now contains all the new MPs and it's ready to help you email your representatives — even if you're not sure who they are. · As UK MPs get settled, they say they will be picking up their work on WhoFundsThem, working with a group of volunteers to produce summaries of MPs’ registers of members interest, adding context and clarity to improve the transparency and understanding of MPs’ financial interests. And they have other resources and information under these themes below:- · A regular free newsletter · Fix my Street – reporting local problems to the Council and other authorities They are always looking for new volunteers to help them work towards a fairer society by assisting with the day to day running of the service https://www.mysociety.org/
