Thank you, Jacksonville! 🎁 News4JAX received thousands of toy donations and more than 100 bicycles and helmets during our annual toy drive — an effort to ensure children in our community have gifts for the holidays. We now have the privilege of handing these toys out to hundreds of smiling faces this weekend at the Children’s Christmas Party of Jacksonville! #PositivelyJAX

There are so many things to decide on in our lives already that often, decisions on what to do with your clutter buildup get postponed. Perhaps you need to talk to a family member before you can decide or you need a chunk of time to tackle more at once. You might be too tired after a busy day at work or with the kids or volunteering that these decisions are not even on your radar. Yet your clutter keeps building because every time we bring in more than we take out our accumulation builds. So my suggestion is to put it in or on your calendar at least once a month for a few hours to sort through the piles and see what can be recycled or donated or tossed. Always keep a clear bag going in a closet for clothes you don't need anymore. Keep a box in a spot where you can see it to add donations into on a consistent basis and when it is full then donate it and start another one. When you finish a book or a puzzle or you see decor you no longer love, add it to the box. CD's you won't listen to or DVD's you won't watch or games you won't play can all be good additions to donate. Are you consistently decluttering or rather doing it in chunks or not doing it at all. Here is your message to begin. #decluttering #hamont #burlington #oakville #professionalorganizersincanada #clutterreliefservices

Have you ever wondered what kind of impact Cocotree Kids is making with your support? We asked some of our partners to share more about the impact our donations have on their organization and the clients they serve. Katie O’Leary, the Homeless Prevention Manager from Wellspring House in Gloucester, MA, shared “Cocotree Kids has completely filled a void that we had a really hard time filling. What people don’t realize is the only way to secure underwear is cash. Our clients have a very limited amount of cash. They can’t buy underwear with food stamps or anything else. It is illegal to sell used underwear in Massachusetts, so we can’t even give them thrift store vouchers. This has been absolutely amazing {underwear donations from Cocotree Kids}. We have parents who have been able to keep up with their electric bills because they haven’t had to buy underwear. Cocotree Kids is the first organization that realized that need and filled it, so it’s been amazing for us.” Wellspring inspires families and adults to achieve employment and financial security through stable housing, education, job training, and career readiness. We are proud to partner with Katie and the team at Wellspring House, to support their families in improving financial security by providing underwear, an essential need. If you’d like to help us continue to support organizations like the Wellspring House, visit our website and donate today. #cocotreekids #manonprofit #makeadifference #nonprofitimpact

Local toy drives have a special place in our hearts because they directly impact the lives of children in our very own community. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, can make a world of difference to a child who may otherwise go without a gift during the holidays. By donating to local drives, you're not only spreading joy but also fostering a sense of togetherness and compassion. Where can you donate? Big Brothers and Big Sisters of RI: This local organization collects clothing and soft fabrics for children in need and distributes them to families within the community. You can donate to their bins at the VFW as well as the Cup Defenders on Wood St. Bristol Police Department: They often host a holiday toy drive, and donations can be dropped off at their headquarters. Local Churches: Many churches in Bristol actively participate in toy drives during the holiday season. Check with your local parish to see if they have a collection. Schools and Community Centers: Keep an eye out for toy collection bins at your local schools or community centers. If we can become aware of others and what the community is hosting this holiday season, one purchase, one drive, one thought can directly impact someone else this holiday season for the better. This is your Daily Dose of the day! #MondayMotivation #Donations #HolidaySeason #BristolRI #RhodeIsland #DailyDoseofBristolRI

August is a major month for donations, with September 1 being a big moving day in addition to it being back-to-school season. Please be considerate of our donation bin hosts and other donors when you’re dropping off clothing donations. Remember: 👕 If the bin is full, don’t leave your donation outside of the bin. Please bring it to another bin or save it for another time. 👕 Place your donations in a small- or medium-sized bag (no hangers or boxes). Larger bags and boxes often won’t fit in our bins. 👕 Hold on tightly to your phone, keys, wedding band, etc. so you don’t donate anything unintentionally. 👕 Don’t put financial contributions in the bins - please send checks separately. Our bins are emptied at least four times a week, and even more frequently during moving season. Your courtesy and care help us through this busy time so that together, we can support folks in need in our community and keep as much clothing as possible out of landfills! #secondchances #donationbin #clothing #donation #recycle #sustainability #cambridge #somerville #back-to-school

Ride report on the Horribly Hilly Hundreds 94 miles, 8,100 feet elevation gain, 3700 Calories burned. 7 hours riding time. Goals achieved: 1) 150 km completed. I skipped 10 miles of the route including 3 climbs. So I did not do their full '150' which was 104 miles (167 km). My initial goal was 100 km, so riding the longer route and completing 150 km was win for me. 2) I did not walk up any of the climbs. I did have to stop and take a few 2-3 minute breathers on the steepest parts of the last two climbs. These were at about 15%. A very difficult finish. 3) This was the biggest elevation gain ride I have done in 15 years. Notes: 1) The 33 x 36 gear was sufficient, but several times I was shifting and hoping for the 44 tooth cog that I did not have. My guess is that no matter what gear I had, I would have always wanted one bigger. 2) Modern technology was very important for me on this ride. I really needed it to gauge my effort, manage my pace, and know to back off on some early climbs to save my legs for the later hills. If you've read this far, thank you. Please consider donating to my Bike MS fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis. That happens this coming weekend. My legs should recover by then: https://lnkd.in/gPvFc5YD
The picture is of the rear cassette I will be using for this Saturday's ride. The Horribly Hilly Hundreds is an annual fundraiser for the Friends of Blue Mound State Park. I first did this ride 15 years ago because someone thought it would be 'fun' to design a ride in Wisconsin with 10,000 feet of climbing in 100 miles (it took 104). The hills are short but steep. Coming from a flat part of the state, these will be much more challenging than my local Mt Overpass. Thus the pie plate sized rear cassette cog. The ride design has changed in recent years and there are rides of 100, 150, and 200 km. Me? I'll be happy to finish the 150. While not a training ride for Bike MS Tour de Farms, it's how I decided to spend my 'free' weekend before it. Still on the fence about riding or donating? It's not too late to join or donate: https://lnkd.in/gPvFc5YD

Toys, toys, and more toys!!! Decluttered the ones the kids don't play with anymore to give them room to find the ones they enjoy!
