I have seen countless recruiters/TA professionals express that they have been rejected from roles for "lack of industry experience." I find this to be a poor practice & something occurred to me recently. Recruiters/TA professionals often haven't worked the roles they are filling daily but are trusted to attract, source, and assess candidates effectively. How can they fill roles without direct experience? They are given the chance to learn. I had no previous experience in SaaS, direct sales, or customer success. Despite this, I achieved a 90% time to fill of 45 days. If you reject qualified candidates due to a lack of industry experience, consider reassessing your process. According to a recent article by The Deal January 2024 technology jobs are now at a job postings levels higher than that of H2 2019. While hiring isn't crazy like we saw in 2021 things have normalized to historic levels. Now that potential rate cuts have come into view tech jobs will return en masse in 2024. It's just a matter of when not if. As I've mentioned it starts with recruiting hires which have been trending up significantly and then everyone else follows. Fun fact dozens of 500-1,000+ person companies laid off so many recruiters the past 18 months that their teams were down to a half dozen or so recruiting team members. Suffice it to say it's going to take time to ramp those teams back up to start hiring again. Unless of course they use an RPO like Job Mobz.
