The answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT! The point of bg check is not only about not inflating salary - it's about providing correct, accurate information. So you have applied for the job...Now comes the question, 'what is your salary requirement?' Knowing that some employers sift the applications based on this number, you would be advised to go low. If you go too low, you may struggle to negotiate it up if you land the job. You can answer 'negotiable' and try to get further through the process before that decision has to be made. OR? How would you play this?

If an employer includes a salary range in a job posting, it is reasonable to ask the applicant to provide an expected salary range. But if not, why should the applicant say it?😒 Without telling the salary range, but asking for the previous salary, it is actually clear that they will only give a similar salary.😏

QUESTION: Do you appreciate having a Salary Range on a job listing? I'm trying to decide if our Straightforward Job Site should display jobs with the salary range, or if businesses should share the *minimum* salary they're offering for the position instead. 💸 I've heard the ranges can tend to show that the business will try to negotiate as low as possible and perhaps setting a minimum standard will help set higher standards + realistic expectations. Your thoughts?

100% post a range. As a candidate I will always make decisions on where to apply based on salary range. I never have been exactly sure why companies want to hide this bit of information, particularly if they are trying to attract senior level talent. I always assume it's because the salary is low compared to the ones that choose to offer it. If it's not there as a range, I'm not applying. Period. Why should a candidate submit a resume, write a cover letter, wait for an interview, that may never come, only to find out the salary range is out in left field?
