Founder and CEO at Thrive Global

Before I decided to launch Thrive, I had dinner with Ellyn Shook, the legendary chief human resources officer of Accenture. Ellyn was the first believer that Thrive could be more than a book and could serve as the foundation of a company that could change the way we work and live. Since then Ellyn and Accenture have been true partners in every step of the Thrive Global journey. First, we worked together to continue Ellyn’s mission to make Accenture the most truly human company in the digital age. Then there was Ellyn’s leadership in placing mental health at the center of the business agenda, which included Thrive’s unprecedented rollout of Thriving Mind at Accenture. And Ellyn continues to invest in health and well-being, and reshaping the organization to embrace the age of AI, all while the company doubled in size from 300,000 to 750,000. Ellyn has become more than a partner, she has become a trusted friend. And what an amazing chapter of our lives we're both in now, becoming grandmothers almost at the same time – though as Ellyn is quick to remind me, she leapfrogged me with two when her daughter Jessie had twins. Congratulations on an incredible milestone and an extraordinary career, Ellyn. So looking forward to seeing all the ways you continue your mission!

If you lead with #Strategic, make sure that you are involved in the front end of new initiatives or enterprises. Your innovative yet procedural approach will be critical to the genesis of a new venture because it will keep its creators from developing deadly tunnel vision. The Strategic theme enables you to sort through the clutter and find the best route. It is not a skill that can be taught, it is a distinctive way of thinking, a special perspective on the world at large. As the Chancellor of The University of Texas System, JB Milliken habitually generates many ideas at the beginning of a strategic project or problem-solving process. He starts with as many inputs as possible, adds creativity, and then progressively applies critical thinking and discipline to reach a highly effective solution.  https://lnkd.in/gtJYbUaZ

If you have #Relator high, you enjoy close relationships with others and find deep satisfaction in working hard with colleagues to achieve a goal. You strive to understand the feelings, goals, fears, and dreams of those you lead– to you, a relationship only has value if it is genuine. Create and maintain a workplace culture that fosters friendships, and let it be known that you are more interested in the character and personality of others than their status or job title. This is one of your greatest talents and can serve as a model for others. https://lnkd.in/ghEWAS9d

If you have Positivity in your top five, you are generous with praise, quick to smile and endlessly on the lookout for something positive in the situation. Your glass is always half-full, and you continuously find ways to highlight others’ achievements, no matter the size. As a leader, this strength is especially important to build faith, energize teams and keep morale high. When others become discouraged or are reluctant to take risks, your attitude will provide the impetus to keep them moving. How are you energizing the people around you with your #Positivity? https://lnkd.in/gM6bgy89

"I like to think that it is an advantage that we start broadly. That we start with as many inputs as possible and that we try to think creatively about how to resolve something." If you lead with #Strategic, you create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, you can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues. You almost always have a plan B, C and D, which helps you focus on the outcomes you want to achieve.   As the Chancellor of The University of Texas System, JB Milliken uses his Strategic theme to embrace an array of perspectives. He joins Gallup CEO Jon Clifton in the latest Leading With Strengths interview to discuss more. https://lnkd.in/gE4Du2PP

If you have Intellection high, you’re introspective and enjoy time for deep reflection and intellectual discussions. Like many people need to exercise their muscles at the gym, you feel compelled to exercise your brain by getting involved in projects and initiatives in their beginning stages. You like to think, and you’re at your best when you have the time to follow an intellectual trail and see where it leads. To leverage your Intellection in a leadership role, engage people in intellectual and philosophical debate to better make sense of things. How are you stimulating your thinking with #Intellection? https://lnkd.in/gw5miJJg

With Adaptability and Empathy in your top ten, you enjoy going with the flow and building strong relationships with others. You intuitively pick up on what others are feeling and can easily adapt your actions and words around those emotions. The combination of Adaptability and Empathy equips you with a keen awareness of workplace dynamics and the ability to adjust effectively to various situations. Working together, these strengths not only enable you to navigate changes seamlessly, they also ensure you are considerate of your team members' emotions. By balancing these two themes, you're able to foster a supportive and responsive work environment that values both efficiency and compassion. How does this strength pairing show up in your life?

If you have Input in your top five, you’re inquisitive. You collect things—information, ideas, artifacts, or even relationships– to add to your archive. Your natural ability to ask the right questions helps you discover important information that leads to better problem-solving. Schedule time to read books and articles that stimulate you and deliberately increase your vocabulary by collecting new words and learning the meaning of each of them. How are you leveraging your curiosity with #Input to benefit your personal and professional successes? https://lnkd.in/ei-TMP53
