Thank you to the Homewood YMCA STEAM Achievers program at the Verizon Youth Learning Center! Sparking the next wave of creative engineers and technologists!

Exactly one year ago, Deeplocal launched Gizmology , a creative technology apprenticeship program striving to provide racial equity in technology here in Black Pittsburgh, and to be an example for the tech sector across the globe. We knew the goal was ambitious, but also recognized the tremendous impact we could achieve was well worth the collective, all-in effort! Yesterday, the Gizmology apprentices commemorated their graduation from the in-person classroom training to fully being on-the-job, displaying their recreation of a project originally designed for Google over six years ago. The, “Gizmology Mocktails Mixer”, built upon the Google Assistant project with a Gizmology twist, is complete with six uniquely designed mocktails (from eight different flavors) representing personal connections to each member of the Gizmology team. This DIY robotic home bartender whips up your favorite mixed drinks at your command–in the true spirit of the Gizmos!
