Woman remains hospitalized after surgery to remove blade used to stab her in Broward

Deputies jail man accused of attack, judge denies bond

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A woman remained hospitalized on Saturday after undergoing surgery to remove a blade from her chest. Detectives believe a man also used a machete during the attack in Broward County.

Eddie Aguilera said he saw his neighbor attacking the woman inside an apartment. He said he and other neighbors heard her screaming for help and started to try to break inside to help her.

Aguilera said he called 911 and recorded a video of the attacker’s arrest on Thursday near Southwest 26 Street and 12 Terrace in Fort Lauderdale’s Edgewood neighborhood.

“I was surprised. I had chills running up and down my body ... because I have known him for years and I never thought he would do something like that,” Aguilera said about his neighbor.

Aguilera also recorded Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel taking the victim out of the apartment and to an ambulance. They rushed her to the Broward Health Medical Center.

According to police officers, the man said his name is Onorio Guinac-Ramos and he was born in Guatemala, but detectives doubt he is telling the truth.

The suspect appeared in Broward County bond court on Friday facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was held without bond and was in the custody of the Broward Sheriff’s Office correctional deputies.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
