Pollster Nate Silver recommended President Joe Biden resign after watching a clip from a post-debate interview.

“This is a pretty incoherent answer including a non-sequitur complaining about a New York Times poll, which he incorrectly claims had him down 10 points before the debate (it was actually 3 or 4 points, depending on which version you look at),” Silver wrote on X in response to a clip from an interview between Biden and George Stephanopoulos.

“I wimped out in today’s column and deleted a line saying he should formulate a plan to transition the presidency to Harris within 30-60 days, but I’m there now. Something is clearly wrong here,” Silver wrote.

In Biden’s talk with Stephanopoulos, he chalked up his debate performance to a “really bad cold.”

“We were trying to figure out what’s wrong. They did a test to see whether or not I had some infection, you know, a virus. I didn’t,” he said.

According to Biden, he’s staying in the race. The president told a Wisconsin crowd this week he has no intention of being replaced.

“Well, let me say as clearly as I can — I am staying in the race! I’ll beat Donald Trump!” he said. “I will beat him again in 2020. And by the way, we’re gonna do it again in 2024.”
