Jen Psaki Says She Has to Stop Her Son From Saying ‘Mommy and Donald Trump Hate Each Other’

MSNBC host Jen Psaki told comedian Seth Meyers she has to stop her son from saying she and former President Donald Trump “hate” each other.

Psaki joined late night host Meyers on NBC on Thursday night to discuss the reelection campaign of her former boss, President Joe Biden, and at the end of the interview, Meyers turned the questions to how Psaki tells her children about current events in politics if they ask.

“I mean, my husband and I met in Democratic politics, so it’s clear where our positions lie, shall I say. But, you know, we don’t want our kids to go to camp and say things like, ‘Trump is a fascist.’ Right?” the former White House press secretary said.

She added she’s “careful” to only answer what they ask and to not take it further, but she does have to stop her son from making declarations about a feud between her and the former president.

“My son, who is going to kindergarten next year, tells people, ‘Mommy and Donald Trump hate each other.’ And I’m like, we don’t hate anyone. Hate is a strong word. I don’t think he thinks about me. This is the conversation we have,” she said.

“And meanwhile, Trump’s like, I hate her,” Meyers joked.

“He might be,” Psaki said.

The MSNBC added that her daughter was born during Barack Obama’s administration and there are plenty of pictures of her in the White House and with the then-president. Her son on the other hand was born during Trump’s administration.

“My son was born during the Trump administration and he feels a little kind of screwed over by that, which I kind of understand,” she joked.
