If a thriller can make you hold your breath for fear of being eaten by aliens while you’re sitting in the multiplex, it’s working pretty well, and “A Quiet Place: Day One” appropriately kept me in a frozen state, afraid to so much as crinkle a page in my notebook.
Not much of Sam and Eric’s journey is all that compelling, or even makes sense . . . but at least they’re nudged along by Sam’s emotional support cat, easily the cutest MVP (Most Valuable Pet) since Messi the dog from last year’s Anatomy of a Fall.
He escapes the confines of being just a hired gun, but in the case of A Quiet Place: Day One, Sarnoski’s tender, apocalyptic character drama keeps getting interrupted by a bunch of pesky aliens.
A Quiet Place: Day One is about a cancer patient in hospice who hopes to die with dignity. Also, there are terrible monsters threatening humanity. What an odd idea for a horror prequel.
A Quiet Place: Day One was amazing I'd give it a 10/10. The cinematography was pretty good they had some iconic shots. The acting was great, especially Lupita Nyong'o, she killed it. It scared me a few times but the best part is the journey with our main character played by Lupita Nyong'o and her cat Frodo. It was a very emotional movie that had me tearing up a bit and then full-on shudder crying by the end. I cried for like an hour after the movie well into my dinner date. In my opinion, it was really good but I'm an emotional and empathetic person. Absolutely recommend it.
A Quiet Place: Day One is an enjoyable movie, but it's quite boring sometimes. That's mainly because I wasn't interested in these characters that much, even though I love their actors.
The story is very simple and repetitive. The characters were not bad, but uninteresting, at least for me. After a few minutes I knew where Samira's journey would go and I didn't like her, because of her attitude negative to life, which is obviously very understandable, but not fun to watch. On the other hand I liked Eric, but he also wasn't as great of a character as the characters in the first two films were.
There were some extremely frightening jumpscares and the movie was very tense, which I liked. The cinematography is still very good in this franchise and the sound effects are amazing.
Lupita Nyong'o's acting is really good, but Joseph Quinn carried the film for me. His facial acting is among the best I've seen. He carries so many emotions on his face. He has the potential to become a star.
I was let down by A Quiet Place: Day One, but I was amazed by Joseph Quinn.
As a staunch movie fan, if you truly want to agitate me make a movie with overwhelming stupidity. To be entertain is the obvious goal, but why must out intelligence be insulted. The trailers truly **** me into wanting to see this as the premise was to answer why this was happening. I fell aslep several times during the movie which is totally not the norm for me. I feel like this movie Catfished me.
