Packing more pathos into its complex run than most shows can muster, there is a real sense of revelation that comes through with Invasion season 2. It might not match contemporaries such as Silo and Foundation in terms of consistency, but more than makes up for that disappointing first run.
The early going of Invasion season two definitely has fun with the idea that a tech mogul disruptor-in-chief could one day enter a mind meld with encroaching aliens. Nikhil will be one to watch as his motives become more clear.
There really isn't much happening again until the last three episodes, a lot of filler and unnessecary dialogue and side stories, boring characters as well. I just wanna see how it ends, but you don't miss much when you just watch the last episode. P
Season 2 should have started with a rehabilitation of the characters from season 1. Maybe the show runners don’t know how awful they are or how much the audience hates them. These characters were has and continue to be the worst part of the show.
The rest of the show is still a big budget alien invasion series that looks like it shouldn’t be on television. Not that every show needs that Apple money or that scifi requires realistic effects. Doctor Who got on for over half a century with far, far less. Still, it’s nice when a show can deliver the screen candy.
If the show runners could understand characters, or at least understand what makes a character likable, this could be a winner.
The series finally isn't just spinning its wheels and is starting to get somewhere. Where that is remains to be seen, as there are many threads left dangling just as the world hangs on by one, but Season 2 now stokes a more earned curiosity about how they will unravel in the still-expanding story ahead.
There is so much putting the cart before the horse, and when you rack your brain as to why this keeps happening, the only thing that makes sense is that someone or multiple someones in charge just don’t think, deep in their hearts, that the writing is really that important.
It took all of season 1 to get to the season 2 episode 1. Season one was very boring and season 2 appears to be following the slow plot. The Aliens need to get involved in the script. First kill of the mother and her kids, waste of time and energy. Second, find a girlfriend for the Japanese gall. 3. Bring back Sam Neill, at least he can act.
This show makes both scientists and military look like idiots. It’s quite an achievement to do this in one show. Characters are boring and do not follow any logic or common sense. They just follow the drama. In some rare moments the show is good, but overall it’s a shame to call it sci-fi.
1 point for special effects. Season 1 underplayed things too much, so now Hollywood swings the pendulum waaay out the other way and the screen is chocka-block with aliens.
And as Hollywood seems to do when they think they've got a hit on their hands but need to give it some oomph for Season 2 and "step it up a notch" they spend a bunch of money on FX and sets and get ChatGPT to write the script, coz who needs writers?
The writing is so bad. I don't know why critics are giving it a pass. They ignore basic human motivation and gives us corny, predictable trash. The Elon Musk-alike character sits at the desk and says "Showtime" ffs. Its awful.
perhaps the worst show ever made. the writing is so cheesy and predictable - it is so cringe worthy like so much apple content that i dont get who is at the helm and why they are not hiring writers of decent calibre. if you love the genre maybe watch for the effects but thats it. a painful 58 minutes to sum it up
