Invincible is grand, ambitious and morally complex at every turn. While many of our characters are violently pummelled and disembowelled on screen, it’s nearly as painful to think that we’ll have to wait until 2024 to see more of it.
I think it was awesome! It was more slow, and emotional. But OBVIOUSLY it is going to be, Invincible and his mother just got through some insane trauma. It is the calm before the storm, some interesting things are set up, and makes the characters more human. That is good development. idk how some of yall do not get that.
The thrills are still there. Invincible, as always, makes fantastic use of its animation. .... And while these episodes feel noticeably unhurried, it’s nevertheless impressively meditative, preparing us for the next giant step in Invincible’s future.
In just two seasons, Invincible has proven that it’s one of the biggest superhero shows to keep an eye on—in a sea of superhero monotony, this series works hard to stand out.
Aside from the dart-throwing storytelling, the character writing and drama shared between whatever sector, hero or villain, is where the series lives up to its name. To its strength, Season Two seriously considers the previous events emotionally affecting the lives of its ensemble and expands on them thoughtfully.
Following a shaky start, Invincible season 2 quickly finds its footing balancing poignant character-centric storytelling with a greater focus on the all-encompassing threat of the intergalactic planetary conquerors, the Viltrumites.
It’s a huge universe out there, one that’s barely even been explored as of yet, but its greatest strength is that the trials and tribulations of Mark Grayson never move out of the spotlight.
'Invincible' once again sets the bar very high for superhero content. On this occasion, we find our protagonist in a series of conflicts that give him a very interesting depth, from romantic problems as a teenager to the fear of being seduced by violence, just as happened with his father. But that's not all, since the rest of the characters also have complete arcs. Mark's mother stands out, overwhelmed by the lie that she lived, and Donald, immersed in an existentialist conflict related to artificial intelligence. The other superheroes feel just as helpless; the way they highlight their emotions reveals their darker or more fragile side. The villains, although more secondary, equally amazing with their brutality and their motivations, based either on revenge or the search for a new order. This second season maintains the level of the first one; The balance between comedy, drama, and action is perfect. The season finale, amazing for developing the concept of the multiverse briefly but colorfully, is satisfying and extremely exciting. These imperfect and vulnerable characters are relatable because of their undeniable humanity. 'Invincible,' without a doubt, emerges again as one of the best-animated series of today. Let's hope the third season doesn't take that long to arrive.
Wow. So. The first season was at least a 9/10 for me, really fresh, and exciting, and brutal. And then our wait for season 2 began. And we waited. And waited. And waited. Finally here we are, and season 2 is...... kinda OK? I guess? The first 3.5 episodes are basically... not good, but the second half of the last episode is a return to form. So... thanks for the great half episode? After 3 years?
While the second season of Invincible proves enjoyable, it falls short in terms of substance and action compared to the first. And while the first season provided ample material for lengthy discussions, the new season failed to excite me in many respects.
