Carnival and Hospitality:

The Art of the Invitation

Thematic Past - Invitations 2

An invitation is an expectation for fun, a harbinger of hospitality, a remembrance of a glorious occasion, and, at times, artistry incarnate. Carnival and Hospitality: The Art of the Invitation showcases 175 years of Southern graciousness and Mardi Gras good times. Featuring over three hundred artifacts pertaining to all that an envelopment might hold and more, the show imparts a history of Carnival in Mobile, American history, and society fashion, and multiple other narratives. Many invitations are paired with works of art by local artists that inspired them. The first ever exhibit to focus solely on Carnival invitations in Mobile, Carnival and Hospitality is a show which you are “cordially invited!”
