The accolades keep rolling in for Vince Carter. The latest: The soon-to-be Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer is one of the three NBA 2K25 cover athletes.

2K games made the announcement Wednesday morning that Carter will be on the Hall of Fame edition cover. Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum will appear on the standard edition cover while Las Vegas Aces MVP A'ja Wilson will grace the WNBA edition cover. Tatum and Wilson will stand side-by-side on the All-Star edition.

The game will come out Sept. 6 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 , Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Vince Carter, shown here during an Atlanta Hawks game on Jan. 30, 2019, played 22 seasons in the NBA.

NBA 2K might not be the most anticipated sports game of 2024 — that tagline belongs to EA Sports' College Football 25 — but it has long been the most popular basketball title, having been released annually since Carter’s rookie year of 1999.

For Carter, this honor isn’t a first. He previously made the covers of NBA Inside Drive 2002 and NBA Live 2004 when he was a member of the Toronto Raptors.

His iteration of the NBA 2K25 artwork shows him during the 2000 dunk contest, which helped launch him to superstardom. The player nicknamed “Half Man, Half Amazing” is displayed as half man, half statue on the cover.

“Between the honors NBA 2K and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame have bestowed upon me, this year is an unforgettable one, making me pause with gratitude at my career,” Carter said in a press release. “Being named a cover athlete would have always been a special moment for me, but it is a particular honor to be on the cover of the NBA 2K25 Hall of Fame Edition.”

During a record-setting 22-year pro career, Carter played for eight teams and averaged 16.7 points per game. He retired after the 2019-20 season.

Now 47 years old, he will enter the hall of fame in October.

Next week, the Daytona Beach native will hold his annual Vince Carter Youth Basketball Academy summer camp at his alma mater, Mainland High School.
