Welcome to the Summer of the Chicago Bears.

Interest is high. Expectations are rising. Hope is reaching unusual heights around town, as fans have a new quarterback to invest in — Caleb Williams.

The addition of Williams would make this summer’s training camp a main attraction in itself, but add a receiving corps of Keenan Allen, DJ Moore and rookie Rome Odunze; a defense highlighted by Montez Sweat, Jaylon Johnson and Tremaine Edmunds; and cameras everywhere for HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” and we’re entering a camp like no other in Lake Forest.

Our fifth annual fan survey figures to reflect that excitement, but it is the Bears after all — they are still far from any kind of Super Bowl chatter, and off the field, there are more questions than answers about a new stadium.

With this being the fifth consecutive year gauging fan opinion on the state of the franchise, we have plenty of data points to compare, from Justin Fields to Williams, to how feelings have changed about the team’s leadership and head coach. Those results will be analyzed next week.
