Adam Driver dinosaur action epic ‘65′ was partly filmed in Oregon

If you thought the dark, moist-looking woods surrounding Adam Driver in the trailer for “65″ look vaguely Northwestern, you’re onto something. The movie, which stars Driver as a pilot who crash lands on a planet that turns out to be Earth 65 million years ago, did some filming on location in Oregon.

In the movie, Driver plays Commander Mills, a man from another planet, who sets out on a space mission to earn the money to pay for a medical procedure to save the life of his daughter. But the mission goes awry when Mills becomes stranded on a planet that happens to be Earth in the prehistoric era. The only other survivor of the collision is a girl named Koa (Ariana Greenblatt). Together, the two must dodge dinosaurs, and other prehistoric dangers.

In addition to locations in Louisiana and Ireland, “65″ also shot in Oregon. Locations included Meyer’s Creek Beach, in Gold Beach; Coos Bay; Whaleshead Beach, in Brookings; Agness; and Elk Creek Falls.

The movie is written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who, with John Krasinski, wrote the script for “A Quiet Place.” The producers include Sam Raimi, director of such films as “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” “Spider-Man” and “The Evil Dead.”

In an appearance this week on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Driver said the film was made in the middle of the first wave of COVID. Variety reports that the film finished production in February of 2021, but its release has been pushed back over the last year.

Driver also said on “The Tonight Show” that “65″ appealed to him because it was a movie everyone in the family could see. “It was, like, a big movie,” Driver said. “The scale was really massive. It was dinosaurs. No one asked me to play that before, it seemed interesting.”

The movie “65″ opens in theaters on Friday, March 10.
