Charles Barkley Says It's Time For Joe Biden To Withdraw From The Presidential Election

Add Charles Barkley to the constantly growing group of folks who want to see Joe Biden step down and withdraw from the 2024 Presidential Election.

During an appearance on CNBC from this week's American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, Barkley spoke on a number of different topics.  But the strongest statement he made centered around Biden needing to "pass the torch" to someone else.

"I have nothing but admiration and respect for President Biden. But it's time for him to pass the torch to a younger generation," Barkley said. "(Biden) is one of the greatest people I've been fortunate to be around in my life, but it's time to pass the torch."

"(Biden) has been a great person, he's a great man. This isn't something I'm saying now. I've said it a year ago. It's time for him to pass the torch," he continued.

Despite having concerns about Biden that many around the country share, Barkley made it clear that he wouldn't be voting for Donald Trump in the upcoming election. "I would never vote for someone who has that mentality," he said.

Barkley, who co-hosted a show on CNN with Gayle King for all of six months, said earlier this year that he would "punch" any black person he sees wearing anything with a Trump mugshot on it.

After facing serious backlash for his comments about punching black Trump supporters, he attempted to explain what he actually meant.

"Obviously, I’m not going to go around punching random strangers in the face – first and foremost. Secondly, people can vote for who they want to. People can vote for who they want to," Barkley said in March.

"The point I was trying to make, no, the point I was making, I wasn’t trying to make it – when Donald Trump compares his plight with that of the black person, that is what I had a problem with."

"Now, I do want to say this. I want to make it perfectly clear…If you’re a black person and you wearing a Donald Trump mugshot, you are a freaking idiot."
