'World's Hottest Professional Softball Player' Has America By Her Knees

It's been a while, so I apologize for missing this. It's on me, and only me. I'm better than that.

Frankly, I'm the one who first identified Brylie St. Clair, so the fact that she's gone on to do this – without me knowing – is embarrassing.

Tough way to start America's birthday, but sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can get back up and move forward. So, here we are.

OK, time to move forward!

St. Clair – the former Mississippi State softball star who stole our hearts last year – is now a professional softball player. Did you know professional softball existed? I didn't. I've said for years now they need to make something like that. Little did I know they already had.

Anyway, we used to dub Brylie the ‘Olivia Dunne of the Diamond,’ – a name many folks on the internet stole and refused to give credit for. Oh well. Whatever. I don't care, as long as I keep getting the #clicks.

Obviously, that name no longer works, because Livvy is miles ahead of everyone else, and both girls are now college graduates.

However, Brylie popped up on my Instagram feed earlier this week after going viral for her rookie photoshoot with her new team, the Texas Monarchs, and she sent America into an absolute tailspin:

Mississippi State softball star Brylie St. Clair is now a professional

Can't believe our girl is now a professional softball player. Time flies! One summer they're getting ready to dominate their final season in Starkville, and the next they're off to Texas to play professionally. Who knew?

Anyway, Brylie and the Bulldogs finished their final season together 34-20, with a tough loss to South Carolina to open the SEC Tournament. We all thought the senior outfielder was donezo after that, but nope – here she is, back and better than ever.

And, of course, dominating the internet:

I could go on and on. There are endless comments – including a couple of other fans with hedge funds – but you get the picture.

I don't know much – and by that, I mean anything – about professional softball, but I'd be shocked if anyone other than Brylie St. Clair wins Rookie of the Year up in Texas.

Let's get this season rolling. Go Monarchs!
