World's oldest #selfie! This is a group shot belonging to Joseph Byron and friends at the turn of the 20th century. Byron's great grandson Tom uploaded the sepia toned images onto Quora during a callout for best selfies. His caption read: "My great grandfather started doing this as early as 1909." And we thought we were original. ;) Robert Cornelius, Ville New York, Best Selfies, Photo D Art, First Photograph, Foto Vintage, Retro Futurism, Vintage Photography, Old Pictures

Look to the bottom left of the frame. There is a man having his shoes shined. That man is the earliest known photograph of a recognizable human being, taken by Louis Daguerre. It wasn’t that the man in question was the only person on the street. More than likely, the street was full of horses and carts and pedestrians going about their business. It was rather that the exposure time for the image was around ten minutes, which meant that everything else in the scene was moving too fast to be captured in any clarity.
