The Museum of UnCut Funk pays homage to Valerie Brown, the first positive Black female character in a Saturday morning animated cartoon series, Josie and the Pussy Cats.

Based on the Archie comic book characters developed by Dan DeCarlo, this cult classic series debuted on CBS in 1970, and featured the antics of female band members Josie, Melody, and Valerie. This hand-painted production cel features the girls in full band get-up, and there is a great image of the band's logo on the drum.
