Fortnite hits 125 million players in less than a year, says Epic Games

That’s bigger than League of Legends

Epic Games

Fortnite is one of the biggest games on the planet, and Epic reportedly has the numbers to prove it.

The publisher announced on Tuesday that Fortnite has 125 million players, which makes it bigger than massive MOBA titles like League of Legends. Fortnite first launched in July 2017, making that 125 million player record something that occurred in less than a year. To compare, Riot boasted 100 million monthly players log into League of Legends monthly back in 2016, with 27 million of those players logging in daily.

Epic Games made the announcement during its celebrity Fortnite Pro Am tournament that starred 100 celebrity, pro-gamers, YouTubers and Twitch streamers. Epic Games will host a number of competitive tournaments to celebrate the game’s growth, give back to the community and give players a chance to compete on a big stage. That tournament season will culminate in a World Cup tournament next year. No location for the tournament has been set.
