Nike has launched its Eliud Kipchoge 'EK' Umoja Collection ('umoja' being the word for unity in the GOAT's native Swahili), featuring a select line of footwear and apparel in designs that pay homage to the start of Kipchoge’s racing career: his first World Championship in the 5000m in Paris in 2003, which he won, aged 18.
The collection includes five of Nike's best running shoes: the Nike Alphafly 2, Vaporfly 3, Zoom Fly 5, Pegasus 40 and Victory track spike. For apparel, the line includes the Nike Windrunner jacket, Rise 365 tee, Stride 7-inch short and three colours of its Dri-FIT tee.
The sock liners in each running shoe display the official time of his 2003 5000m win (12:52.79) while Kipchoge's personal mantra – 'No Human is Limited' – can be found in his handwriting on the medial midsole of each shoe and on each piece of kit.
The collection is red and white to represent Kipchoge’s Kenyan heritage and nods to the kit he wore when he won his first gold medal.
