If you haven't watched The Kissing Booth by now, then what are you doing?! Netflix’s original movie is basically the 10 Things I Hate About You of 2018 and it was the most rewatched movie on the streaming site in 2018. On February 14, 2019, Netflix announced The Kissing Booth 2 would be making its way to the streaming platform soon with the wildly popular returning cast members in tow. While we wait for the sequel, here's everything we know so far about the return of Elle, Lee, and Noah in The Kissing Booth 2.

Is there going to be The Kissing Booth 2?

Yes! Netflix announced plans for The Kissing Booth 2 on Valentine's Day 2019, presenting the news with a special promo featuring the movie's stars, Joey King and Joel Courtney.

The sequel is not surprising considering the first movie was the most popular on Netflix in 2018. In fact, Netflix programming chief Ted Sarandos had nothing but great things to say about The Kissing Booth during an appearance at the Paley Center for Media. He noted it was “one of the most watched movies in the world right now” and No. 4 in IMDB rankings behind tentpole releases like Deadpool 2, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Avengers: Infinity War.

In response to his comments, Beth Reekles, the author of the book the movie is based on, tweeted, "No big deal but Ted Sarandos of @netflix said that The Kissing Booth is “one of the most watched movies in the world right now” and excuse me while I find some champagne to pop."

When will the new movie be released?

As of now, we don't have a release date for the second movie, but we can assume we will be getting the sequel this spring, possibly in May 2020. The movie wrapped filming in August, so that provides a lot of time for all the necessary editing and preparation. A May release would also allow the movie to come out exactly two years after the original, which dropped on Netflix in May 2018. If it is coming in May, we can probably expect an announcement from Netflix in April with the exact date the movie will drop.

In the meantime, if you haven't checked out Beth's book, which started it all, you should definitely read it while you wait for the new movie.

Which cast members are returning?

We know that Joey and Joel will be returning in the sequel, because they helped announce the news of the second movie, but luckily Jacob Elordi will be returning as well. Netflix posted a special clip on their Instagram featuring Jacob back as Noah Flynn and we honestly can't wait to see what happens next as he starts a long-distance relationship with Elle.

Will the sequel include new characters?

On top of the returning three, Netflix announced that two new characters will be joining the movie! Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Taylor Perez are joining the cast as Chloe and Marco, and according to Netflix, they "are love interests...but not for each other..."

OMG! Does this mean that one (or both) of them is going to get between Noah and Elle? It's possible that Chloe could play one of Noah's Harvard classmates, but we will just have to wait to find out what obstacles lie ahead for our fave couple.

What will The Kissing Booth 2 be about?

As of now, we don't know what to expect from The Kissing Booth 2. It will most likely follow Elle and Noah as they try to handle their long distance relationship, and we can assume something (or someone) is going to get in the way.

Joey, though, hopes that Noah and Elle stay together, and she told Seventeen her predictions for the sequel back in June 2018, before she even knew it was happening.

"Elle goes to visit Noah at college," she assumed. "Of course, there has to be some crazy things that get out of hand, but I don’t know. I really hope that a lot of the original characters, if there was a sequel, like the OMG Girls and Tuppen and all those amazing characters would definitely be in it."

If you want more info on the sequel, you can check out Beth's newest book, The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance, which centers around Noah and Elle's struggling long-distance relationship, and a new boy Levi who catches Elle's attention.

And then there's also The Beach House: A Kissing Booth Novella, which focuses on the summer between the first and the second books when Elle, Noah, Lee, and Lee's new girlfriend head to the boys' beach house for the summer.

One thing we know for sure, though, is that we are going to get more of those epic Dance Dance Revolution scenes in the sequel. Joey revealed to the LA Times that there will be more DDR scenes in TKB2, and they will be even more epic than the first time around.

"It is so intense and the first movie you thought we had hard DDR, well, just you freaking wait for the second one," she said.

In fact, when Joey talked to the reported, she was in the middle of working on the DDR scenes. "I'm going through it again right now, like I have it tonight," she explained. "It's so hard. I have tendinitis in my elbow from it."

We should be getting more info on the sequel any day now, so keep checking back here to stay on top of everything you need to know about The Kissing Booth 2.
