Resurfaced Reports Reveal the Young Royals’ Nickname for Queen Camilla — & Her Cringe-Worthy Reaction

In case you missed some royal news from December 2016 (which a lot of us understandably did …), a little-known tidbit about Queen Camilla is circulating again. The Queen has been known by many names. Before she was a royal, she was Camilla Parker Bowles. After marrying King Charles III, she’s been the Duchess of Cornwall, the Queen Consort, and now, well, you know. Meanwhile, in her family life, the Queen apparently goes by a rare grandparent name — and it’s not Grandma or Granny or Nana.

No, Queen Camilla is called “Gaga.” And the royal couldn’t help but share the news when she met someone with the same moniker.

During the 2016 Royal Variety Performance, the grandmother of 10 reportedly shared the fact with pop singer Lady Gaga. “My own grandchildren call me Gaga. I don’t know if it’s because they think I am! It is funny but is still very sweet,” she said, per The Sun.

Which makes us cringe! Did she mean to say she thought her grandkids actually confused her for Lady Gaga? Because we don’t really see a resemblance between the King’s second wife and the “Bad Romance” singer. Or did she wonder if her grandkids thought she was literally “gaga?” As in “excessively and foolishly enthusiastic,” as defined by Dictionary.com.

It’s also unclear if this was a moniker given to her by one of the five grandkids she shares with ex-husband Andrew Parker Bowles and carried on by her step-grandkids, or if toddler Prince George came up with it himself. Most outlets suggest the latter, but things can get fuzzy when it comes to which grandchild Queen Camilla is talking about.

Case in point: back in March, Buckingham Palace rushed to clarify a statement that the royal had made when chatting with well-wishers after giving a speech on the Isle of Man. She met 15-week-old twins Louie and Oliver and reportedly said, “I have a Louis grandson … quite a handful.”

One might assume that she was talking about Prince Louis, her step-grandson who is known for his hilarious antics. But no.

“Buckingham Palace has since clarified that the Queen was referring to grandson Louis Lopes,” Hello! magazine added to their original story. Louis Lopes is the teen son of Queen Camilla’s daughter Laura Lopes … and the apparent handful.

Now we’re just dying to know what Louis Lopes thinks of his “Gaga” either calling him out or throwing him under the bus.
