I appreciate that a film like this exists. The film is very unique and art inspired. However, the film is incredibly weird and the story (or lack there of) goes nowhere.

I loved it but definitely not for everyone, it is ridiculous.

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention. Very awkward and poorly handled avant garde style depiction of mental patients. Not a good look, even from an aged film honestly.

Yeah, It's pretentious. I wanted to give this a watch because I can be a bit of a sucker for trippy visuals and artsy films if they're done just so. This I think tried to be a mashup of that style of German Surrealism and 80's Psychedelia (The visuals are still interesting at times don't get me wrong, especially with the choice of colors) but I think that the 80's psychedelia just overwhelms a bit too much here. It lacks any and all of the subtle elegance that The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari has and therefore shares near to nothing in common with it's inspiration besides name and some angular sets. If it was trying to be a modernized and experimental take it really shows it's age. There are a lot of 80's references imbedded in the writing. The whole movie comes across as abrasive and in your face which, obviously was the point but none of it is enjoyable unless you want abrasive for the sake of trying to challenge yourself to interpret some manner of enjoyment out of something that isn't supposed to be. The script, the dialogue, feels like a poor attempt at slam poetry. The Actors and actresses are always moving about in a sort of interpretive dance. It's oversexualized to an extreme and kind of unnecessary degree. If that sounds like your thing, you'll probably enjoy this. I didn't care for it and can't really recommend it. If you want to watch some worthy art go watch The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari instead.
