In 1999, Josh Ryan Evans made his Passions debut as Timmy. The character was a talking doll, the creation of and sidekick to witch Tabitha (Juliet Mills). Timmy longed to be a real boy and his kind nature made him reluctant to participate in Tabitha's evil schemes. Evans tragically passed away at the age of 20 from a congenital heart condition in 2002.

In 2007, Alison Sweeney and James Scott began playing Colleen Brady and Santo DiMera in addition to their regular characters, Sami and EJ, in flashback scenes on Days of Our Lives. Colleen was the sister of Shawn Brady, Sami's grandfather, and Santo was Stefano's father, EJ's grandfather. The pair had a love affair despite the fact that Colleen was poised to become a nun. She was so filled with shame when she learned she was pregnant that she faked her own death, and gave up the baby she birthed for adoption. This backstory was created to explain the root of Stefano's long-standing vendetta against the Brady family.
