Crystal Bell head shot - Teen Vogue

Crystal Bell

Crystal Bell is a culture writer and editor based in New York City. She covers culture, music, and entertainment, with a focus on K-pop, fan communities, and pop girls. She especially loves to profile up-and-coming artists and actors before they hit big. Her work has been published in Teen Vogue, Nylon, Elle, PAPER Magazine, Glamour, W Magazine and more. She's currently the digital culture editor at Mashable, with an interest in the intersection of identity and technology, and has a K-pop column in Nylon where she unpacks industry trends and provides the necessary context to better understand the K-pop ecosystem. Previously, she was the entertainment director at MTV News, where she honed her expertise in teen dramas and expanded the brand's coverage of global artists, creating and producing the digital docuseries "Stan Accounts," which explored the multifaceted world of fandom, and "Homecoming," a three-part series that spotlighted Asian American artists.

She's especially fluent in pop culture and will gladly make you a K-pop playlist and/or give you film and anime recommendations upon request. Crystal lives with her two black cats, Howl and Sophie (don't be fooled: her favorite Miyazaki film is actually Princess Mononoke).
