Angus Cloud Dies at 25: Actors, Musicians, and More Celebs React to His Death

The cast of Euphoria and celebrities all across the entertainment industry are taking to social media and beyond to pay tribute to Angus Cloud after news broke that the actor had died on July 31, 2023, at the age of 25.

"We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud," posted both Euphoria's and HBO's social accounts shortly after Cloud's passing was shared by his family. "He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time."

Zendaya

In a heartbreaking post shared to Instagram, Zendaya wrote moving words about her late costar: “Words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty that is Angus (Conor). I’m so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh (I’m smiling now just thinking of it) I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love… ‘they could light up any room they entered’ but boy let me tell you, he was the best at it,” she wrote. “I’d like to remember him that way. For all of the boundless light, love and joy he always managed to give us. I’ll cherish every moment. My heart is with his mother and family at this time and please be kind and patient as grief looks different for everyone.”

Sydney Sweeney

Cloud's costar Sydney Sweeney posted a group of photos and videos of the late actor to Instagram, which she said was the “hardest thing [she's] ever had to post.”

“Angus you were an open soul, with the kindest heart, and you filled every room with laughter,” wrote Sweeney. “This is the hardest thing ive ever had to post, and im struggling to find all the words. You will be missed more than you know, but I'm so blessed to have known you in this lifetime, and I'm sure everyone who has ever met you feels the same. This heartache is real and I wish we could've had one more hug and 711 run. All my love is with you.”

Maude Apatow

Maude Apatow's Euphoria character Lexi became Cloud's character's love interest in the second season. In a loving photo carousel posted a few days after his death, Apatow called Cloud “the funniest person ever." 

“I would get so excited to see on the schedule that we would be working together because I knew we’d have the best day, laughing so hard," she wrote. "He was the sweetest and made everyone around him so happy. He was just the best. Words can’t really capture how magical of a person he was. My heart is broken. Angus, getting to know and work with you was one of the greatest joys and blessings of my life. I will love you forever. ❤️”

Hunter Schafer

Hunter Schafer, one of Cloud's Euphoria costars since season 1, posted a tribute to him on Instagram along with a Polaroid photo of the actor smiling. “Been trying to figure out what to say, but idk if any combination of words can articulate all of the big feelings,” she wrote. “For now I just wanna say: Angus was a sunshine. To have known his warmth, his light, and his love was nothing short of a gift. I’m so grateful to have shared so many enormous fits of laughter, so many sweet moments, and the joy of getting to make something together that we loved so much. I love you Angus 💗 Thank you for everything. My heart goes out to his family and all of his loved ones right now.”

Barbie Ferreira

Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez in Euphoria seasons 1 and 2, posted a smiling photo of Cloud to Instagram with a few words: “I love you so much. You will be missed tremendously.”

Sam Levinson

In a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter, Euphoria creator Sam Levinson said: "There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented, and way too young to leave us so soon. He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace, and God Bless his family."

Drake

Drake, who serves as executive producer on Euphoria, also took time to mourn Cloud, posting a picture of the actor on his Instagram stories with the words "good soul" alongside a dove and a sad emoji.

Storm Reid

Storm Reid, who plays Zendaya's on-screen sister on the show, decided to pay tribute by sharing one of Cloud's most memorable scenes with Maude Apatow from the show on her Instagram stories. "The tears just won't stop," she wrote over the clip. A few days later, she made a separate feed post mourning the late actor: “Wish I could hear you say ‘fammmmmmmmm’ or ‘how’s momz’ one more time. I’ve always respected your kindness, tomfoolery, and ability to take up space. Wish we could’ve shared the screen together. Never gonna forget about you dawg. You are SO loved. ♥️”

Javon Walton

Javon Walton, also known by the moniker Wanna, who portrayed Ashtray, Fez's righthand man and quasi-brother on the show, two-timed his tribute. He shared a picture of himself and Cloud holding hands with the words "forever family" and a heart emoji in his Instagram stories. He also posted a picture of the two hugging on his main grid. "rest easy, brother❤️🕊," the caption read. 

Kathrine Narducci

Kathrine Narducci, also part of Cloud's on-screen family on Euphoria, posted a small tribute on Twitter. "You were a gentle, beautiful soul. You exited [too] soon," her message read. 

Chloe Cherry

Euphoria season 2 scene-stealer Chloe Cherry posted a behind-the-scenes pic of her and Cloud in black-and-white, with Cloud throwing up a peace sign. “I can’t believe it’s real,” she wrote in her caption. “I miss you so much. I’ll never forget our conversations. You were so funny and such a good person. Your story was so inspiring to me. For now, I guess this is goodbye.”

Colman Domingo

Colman Domingo, who plays Ali on the show, posted a snap of the show's cast from a premiere to Instagram, where Angus can be seen taking a selfie with a broad smile. "And that was his smile. That was him. May he rest sweetly in peace," his caption read. "Couldn't be more real, original, and sweet," he continued on his stories, later following it up with a poignant quote about grief from James Baldwin. "Loved this kid. Always smiles. I hope this sensitive soul is at rest. Check on [your] loved ones. Check on them."

Alexa Demie 

Alexa Demie seemingly referenced Cloud's passing on her Instagram stories, posting a black slide with only a heartbroken emoji in the middle.

Paula Marshall

Paula Marshall, who plays Nate Jacobs's mom on the show, provided a short statement to People where she called Cloud "kind, gracious, and so unique." She added: "You couldn't take your eyes off him, on film or on set. How lucky we all were to have witnessed his work. It was beyond truthful, every damn take. My heart hurts."

Lukas Gage

Lukas Gage, who played tormented Tyler Clarkson in season one of the show, mourned Cloud on his stories sharing a photo from the set. He also commented on Cloud's most recent Instagram post: "Rest easy, Angus."

Iris Apatow

Iris Apatow, Maude's sister, shared a photo of herself and Cloud to her Instagram stories. “A genuinely kindhearted person. I'm really glad to have gotten to know him,” she wrote with a heartbroken emoji. “This is a devastating loss. Rest in peace Angus.”

Jordyn Woods

Outside the Euphoria circle, other celebrities also shared messages of love and support for Cloud. Jordyn Woods took to Instagram stories to mourn the star, sharing three throwback snaps with the actor. "Such a rare soul," Woods wrote on her second slide, which shows the pair playing in the snow. "Instantly friends from meeting when we did this event together. You will be missed."

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid, who starred in a Ralph Lauren ad with Cloud last year, reposted a clip of them together to her Instagram stories. "Just saw the news about the loss of Angus. I only got to work with him a couple of times, but I was immediately drawn to his kind, gentle spirit. My deepest condolences to his closest and loved ones. May he rest in peace," she wrote to accompany the video, with a white heart emoji. 

Rachel Zegler

West Side Story star Rachel Zegler took to Twitter to pen a heartfelt letter for the actor and anyone going through similar experiences. "Please remember how loved you are. This world is so quick to make you feel otherwise. There are reasons to stick around. And this world needs you. Oh, Angus. We celebrate you," her message reads.

Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington also used Twitter to share a message for Cloud: "You will be deeply missed. Rest in Power." 

Kid Cudi 

Kid Cudi followed suit, retweeting the Euphoria account's statement. "This hurts, man. One of the realest dudes in this business. Fuck," his message reads.

Reneé Rapp

Though she did not namecheck Cloud, many are interpreting Reneé Rapp's latest tweet as a tribute to the actor. "Rest easy, love. You're never alone," the post reads.

Suki Waterhouse

Suki Waterhouse reshared a news card from Complex announcing Cloud's passing, adding: "Heartbroken hearing this news. RIP Angus."

Kehlani

Kehlani, who, like Cloud, hails from Oakland, California, decided to pay tribute to the star on Instagram. She shared a snap of herself and the actor, which she accompanied with a small letter. "Sat for a long time. U f*cked the whole world up, but you really f*cked everybody at home up," her message reads. "It's a deep one. Not too many words when it's this close to home. Not many words when it's a bigger conversation. I ain't got much more to say except the real person was more complex & more solid than a TV character. That person [deserves] to be remembered in totality. Hugging all my patnas from back home. Direct your prayers towards his mother, his family. Love you, brudda. Energy never dies. Long live you." 

Kehlani reinforced the message from her grid post on her Instagram stories, writing: "Not a TV character. A real person. Remember that."

Guapdad4000

Guapdad4000, who is also from Oakland, paid tribute to Cloud on Instagram, sharing a picture of the two together. "It's weird posting when my friends from Oakland die," the rapper pondered. “It happens so much I can't keep up. It's weirder posting when my 'famous' friends die. So this one is double weird. It's hard to find someone from the same place doing what you do and being where u at. Bay Area Icon. Picking up random calls and hyping you up bout them paintings ahah f*ck :(”

Big Sean

Rapper Big Sean also paid tribute to Cloud via Instagram, using his stories to share a couple of snaps with the actor. "Not even finna go there on here, but this is terrible," he wrote with a heartbroken emoji. "Rest up."

Denzel Curry

"Not the news I wanted to hear this morning. Rest in Power Angus Cloud," rapper Denzel Curry shared on Twitter with a picture of when the two met. "I met homie on my flight to Dublin last year and turns out we were fans of each other's work," he wrote in a follow-up post. "Angus was just a regular dude from Oakland; he really didn't give a fuck about being famous at all; he just wanted to do him and do the things he liked. Man was chill," he finally added.

Ross Butler

Actor Ross Butler shared a picture of Cloud to his main IG grid to mourn the Euphoria star. "A photo I never got to send to you. One of many. Or maybe I did and you didn't get em because you were never on your phone. You were always looking outward, quietly trying to fit some pieces together. Wherever you are, I hope you figured it out. Love you man," his caption reads.

Danny Ramirez

"Angus… rest easy. Sending you and your family all my love," Danny Ramirez, who starred in Netflix's On My Block, wrote on Twitter.

Kevin McHale 

"No words. Devastating. So sorry to his family and friends and all those who loved him," Glee star Kevin McHale also tweeted.

Chlöe Bailey

Chlöe Bailey reposted a photo of Cloud to her stories on Instagram and shared a small message on Twitter that read: "Wow Angus Cloud gone too soon.. Rest in peace, angel."

Yara Shahidi

Yara Shahidi also reposted a picture of Cloud to her IG stories, adding: "Heartbreaking. Rest in peace."

Marsai Martin

Marsai Martin also reposted a picture of Cloud to her stories with a dove and a heartbroken emoji.
