Once Again, Steve Harrington Stole "Stranger Things" Fans' Hearts

The second season of Stranger Things introduced us to “Dad Steve” — AKA the arc that took Steve Harrington from smarmy antagonist to bona-fide heartthrob slash babysitter of the year. Joe Keery’s character quickly skyrocketed to fan favorite status, and it’s safe to say that viewers’ feelings haven't changed at all with the release of Season 3.

The third installment of the hit Netflix series dropped on July 4, and if you, like me, chose Steve Harrington’s swooshy hair over IRL fireworks, you probably know by now that he’s just as endearing as he was the last time we saw him — maybe even more. Without giving away any spoilers (I promise!), Season 3 introduces us to a new dynamic for Steve: his coworker-turned-friend Robin, played by Maya Hawke.

When we first meet Robin at Scoops Ahoy, we’re immediately immersed in the witty back-and-forth banter between her and Steve (it’s easy to imagine them bickering all summer long). Soon enough, the sparring gives way to a more serious bond as Robin becomes tangled up in the mystery we've been following since 2016; eventually, both characters let their guard down and trust one another implicitly.

Simultaneously, we get to see the friendship grow between Steve and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and it becomes clearer than ever that Steve thinks of Dustin (and the others, for that matter) as a younger sibling whom he’s ready to protect at all costs.

Given all of this — the hair, the pure “Dad” moments, the friendship goals, did I mention the hair? — it’s no surprise that fans were talking nonstop about Steve on social media while binging Stranger Things 3. From memes highlighting the character’s growth to a hilariously accurate depiction of what diehard stans would do if the Stranger Things writers ever decided to kill him off, please enjoy our roundup of the Very Best Steve Tweets. If nothing else, they’ll help get your mind off of the rats.
