It seems Nicola Coughlan is tired of having to talk about her body over and over again after she revealed that she pushed for nude scenes in the second half of Bridgerton season three. The actor firmly put the ongoing discourse to bed with a cheeky joke in a way only she could deliver.
The first half of Bridgerton's third season came out last month and follows Penelope Featherington (Coughlan) as she searches for a husband, which inevitably ends up as a friends-to-lovers story with Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton. Fans are awaiting the highly-anticipated second half, which will premiere on June 13, and Coughlan revealed that fans can expect some spicy nude scenes between Penelope and Colin.
During a special premiere of the season's second half in Dublin this week, Coughlan and Newton took part in a Q&A with the audience. Fan footage from the event showed Coughlan and Newton standing on stage together, taking questions. At one point, a fan commented that Coughlan was “brave” for getting naked on camera — but the actor was ready with a quip that shut down the tired discussion surrounding her body.
“You know it is hard because I think women with my body type — women with perfect breasts,” Coughlan said, as the crowd erupted in laughter and applause. “We don't get to see ourselves on screen enough and I'm very proud as a member of the perfect breast community.”
“She continued: ”I hope you enjoy seeing them."

In an interview with Stylist magazine published last month, Coughlan revealed that she worked closely with the show's intimacy coordinator on her own nude scenes and explicitly asked to be “very naked” on camera.
“I specifically asked for certain lines and moments to be included,” Coughlan told the magazine. ”There's one scene where I'm very naked on camera, and that was my idea, my choice. It just felt like the biggest 'f*ck you' to all the conversation surrounding my body; it was amazingly empowering."
Coughlan also said that she “felt beautiful” during those scenes and wants to “look back on this and remember how f*cking hot I looked.”
But Coughlan told Teen Vogue in April that she wasn't immediately comfortable getting naked and filming those scenes, revealing that she needed some time to adjust to wearing an intimacy thong. But after some time, Coughlan said she and Newton became so comfortable with it, that they even lounged around naked in between filming.
“It is a testament to the fact that we just got to a point where we were so comfortable together. We'd just finished the big sex scene, the most intense and involved one…. and we just felt relieved,” Coughlan said.
