Like Rihanna, Rosalía Also Has 2023’s Most Divisive Shoe — See Photos

We have some questions.
Rosalía celebrates her birthday at Carbone after Rosalia performed at the Global Citizen Festival on September 25 2022...

Tell us about your shoes, Rosalía. Are they boots? Are they pants? Are they both? The musician is the latest celebrity to make a big splash in the divisive Y/Project boots, but considering they already have the Rihanna stamp of approval, we're pretty sure she won't be the last.

As noted by Vogue France, Rosalía was seen in a full-on Y/Project spring/summer 2023 look for an evening in New York City to celebrate her 30th birthday. The Spanish singer wore a delicate trompe l'oeil blue and white slipdress with nearly invisible spaghetti straps and paired it with the enormous pantaboots in a dirty blue denim color, just as the look had been styled on the runway.

Styled by Gigi Fernandez and Caitlyn Martinez, Rosalía let the boots do the talking and kept the rest of her look simple with loose waves, glowing skin, and a glossy pink lip. (But seriously, all we can see are the boots!)

The Y/Project boots were seen on the runway in a few different varieties, including Rosalía's denim pair, a shiny black patent leather style, and the black suede version worn by Rihanna, who paired hers with a cutoff denim mini, Y2K RZA tee, and a vintage Gucci bag

They're boots, of course, but they're more than that; they hit so high on the leg they may as well be pants, and the slouchy silhouette makes them look like a pair of baggy jeans worn with a boot underneath or even wader-inspired outdoor gear.

The pantaboots are definitely a love-'em-or-hate-'em style, but both Rosalía and RiRi have managed to pull them off. We do have some quick questions, though. Are they easy to walk in? The shoe itself has a slightly pointed toe and regular heel, which looks manageable, but does all that extra fabric weigh you down?

Also, will they catch on with the general public and trickle down to H&M and Target? Are pantaboots the new Margiela Tabi Boots? This fashion-forward style isn't for the faint of heart, but we can't wait to see which celeb puts their spin on it next.
