Taylor Swift Fans Think “folklore” and “evermore” Are Part of a Trilogy

We’ve barely begun unpacking the many different stories on Taylor Swift’s unexpected 9th studio album evermore, and already fans are convinced there’s more to come.

Taylor surprised fans (for the second time this year) on December 11 when she released evermore, the sister album to her summer record folklore. The newest collection of 15 tracks is, as Taylor put it, a continuation of the story — but plenty of Swifties are beginning to wonder if this era is actually part of a trilogy, with a third album on the way.

The most compelling piece of evidence has to do with a photo from the folklore deluxe CD set. In the picture, the word “Woodvale” is seemingly hidden in the trees — and we all know how much Taylor loves hiding things in plain sight.

At the time, fans didn’t think too much of it — maybe “Woodvale” would be the name of a bonus song — but now that evermore is out in the world, Swifties are returning to the clue with fresh eyes. As one fan put it: “Woodvale is the third sister.”

And while it’s hard to wrap our minds around yet another surprise album, we have to admit: there are a lot of clues. A lot of fans have noticed tangible groups of three within Taylor’s folklore merch; there are three different cardigans, and all of her packages come with confetti in three shapes and colors. (Not to mention the three stars on the cardigan sleeves!)

There’s even ideas as to when Taylor’s hypothetical next album might drop — and those theories are starting to make sense too. Because evermore was released 20 weeks after folklore, some Swifties are convinced woodvale might make its appearance in March.

As for what “Woodvale” might reference, fans have certainly done their research there too. One studious Swiftie realized that Woodvale is the name of a property in the Lakes District — ahem, as in folklore’s bonus track, “The Lakes.”

We’ll have to wait and see if the theories come to fruition, but if there’s one thing we know about Taylor, it’s that she’s always twenty steps ahead. Woodvale or no Woodvale, there’s bound to be more surprises in store.
