We've still got some time to wait until Heartstopper season 2 hits Netflix, but the streaming service gave fans a little treat as production continues on the second chapter of the coming-of-age series: an adorable deleted scene between characters Elle and Tao.

The short clip features Elle (played by Yasmin Finney) and Tao (William Gao) at a sleepover with their friends. The best friends are seen cuddled up together watching videos on a cell phone before they stop and look at each other.

"I miss you," says Elle, who has recently changed schools. Tao shares that he misses her too. “It’s just me and Isaac most lunchtimes now. I don’t want to be alone,” he says.

“You’re not,” replies Elle, who hugs him as the show's signature mini animated stars and lightning bolts surround them. Tao closes his eyes and Elle watches him for a moment before nestling into his shoulders and falling asleep. Aww! Yes, I'm crying.

What does this mean for the BFFs? That remains to be seen, but the second season of Heartstopper isn't too far away. The show premiered in May 2022 and instantly became a hit; if you're not super familiar, the series is based on a graphic novel and webcomic by Alice Oseman and centers on a group of friends, most notably leads Nick and Charlie (played by Kit Connor and Joe Locke, respectively) navigating life, love, and growing up. The show has been praised for its depictions of young queer people and some viewers even say the show helped them come out to their families.

We know season two will focus on Nick and Charlie and their relationship ups and downs, but from the look of this clip, we're probably in for some Elle/Tao action too. If the pair is your ultimate ship, season two could be a real heartstopper for you — and for them!
