The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 is officially here, and the series is only getting more emotional and dramatic — which is why it makes perfect sense that Taylor Swift songs contribute to a large part of the show's soundtrack. TSITP creator and author Jenny Han revealed on TikTok that there would be nine Taylor Swift songs on the season two soundtrack, not counting “August” and “Back to December (Taylor's Version)” which were featured in the season 2 trailers. But which songs in Swift's massive catalog made the final cut?

Warning: spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 ahead.

In the first episode of season 2, titled “Love Lost,” the show re-used the 1989 re-recording “This Love (Taylor's Version)” that they debuted last year, as well as a more recent re-recording: “Last Kiss (Taylor’s Version)” from Speak Now (2023).

Episode 2 also features two Swift songs: “Invisible String” from folklore, which is fittingly about being tied to a loved one by some mystical force, and “Hey Stephen (Taylor's Version)” from Fearless (2021). (Fun fact: In 2022, Sean Kaufman, who plays Belly's older brother Steven, revealed that he listened to the Fearless track “sometimes to get into character” since “it's Steven's ringtone in the books.”)

While episode 3 featured no tracks from the songwriter, The Summer I Turned Pretty episode 4 brought in another Swift addition: “Sweet Nothing,” which soundtracks a flashback between Belly and Conrad from before they started dating.

In episode 6, Belly pushes Jeremiah into the pool and the two have a moment soundtracked by  “Delicate (Taylor's Version).” The tension builds in the lead up to a party, and is broken when Conrad wants Belly to go with him to the store to prep for the night. The episode also features “Snow On The Beach," during a heartbreaking conversation between Belly and Conrad.

In the season finale, episode 8 — aptly titled “Love Triangle” — Taylor Swift's “Bigger Than The Whole Sky” serves as the soundtrack to a tearjerking flashback of Belly and Susannah discussing Belly's connections with the boys. Swift's “exile” featuring Bon Iver backs the final split between Conrad and Belly, as our heroine makes her final choice between the brothers: Jeremiah.

From the very start of the season, this curated track list lyrically and tonally paralleled what was in store for Belly, her family, and the brothers who stole her heart. TSITP star Lola Tung, who plays Belly, confirmed last year that the entire cast are Swifties, either OG or converted. As noted by Just Jared Jr, a fan recently asked which Swift era each main character is in this season, and Tung was ready for the challenge.

“I think Belly could be Folklore maybe, it’s a very reflective time for Belly,” she shared at the time. “I think Steven… I was gonna say maybe Lover? … I was gonna say Jeremiah might be in his Reputation era, and I think Conrad could be one of the earlier albums. I think he could be in his Red era.” The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 is now streaming in its entirety on Prime Video.
