Arizona vs Clemson analysis

As we head into the Sweet Sixteen, we have two teams that often don’t make it to this point. Arizona last made it in 2015, while Clemson hasn’t been there since the 1980s.

Looking over the tournament so far, it’s hard to ignore how well Clemson has performed defensively. Against Baylor, they held them to 38.9% shooting from the floor and 25% from three. Baylor attempted 24 three-point shots. Against New Mexico in their 77-56 win, New Mexico shot just 29.7% from the floor and a mere 13% from beyond the arch.

However, Arizona’s offense really picked it up against Dayton, shooting close to 49% from the floor. They had a slower start against Long Beach with a 41.7% shooting percentage from the field, but nonetheless, players like Love continue to score.

One area Clemson struggled against Baylor was rebounds. They managed just three offensive rebounds, which could prove to be the difference against an Arizona team that’s second in the nation in rebounds. Arizona is also seventh in possessions per game at 76.4, while Clemson averages about seven less and is 235th in the nation.

Arizona vs Clemson pick

This is going to be a tight game. Clemson and Arizona are both playing well offensively, but Arizona is doing a bit better, especially based on the Round of 32. Clemson will need to come out here and have a massive defensive effort, but Arizona has a plethora of players that can score double digits, and like we mentioned, rebounds could be an issue.

Another thing to consider is that Arizona is seventh in adjusted defensive efficiency when compared to other tournament teams, allowing 93.5 points per 100 possessions.

Lean Arizona here. This is like going from normal mode to hard mode in a video game.
